This is a log of the time when the Rohirrim Kayl was brought into the Woods. This is a marathon RP session which lasted over 5 hours all told. You can probably see where the logger (Haldir) was getting tired near the end as he becomes ever more quiet :-). The total cast of folks involved at one time or another is pretty large. Some IC background: Kayl has arrived, claiming to bear some message for the people of Lorien. Galadriel has commanded that Kayl be brought to the city, blindfolded and under heavy guard, and that he's not supposed to interact with the citizens otherwise too much. At the point where this log takes up, several folk are at the Naith discussing things. Kayl is across the river, not yet aware of us. Other notes: Kayl was stuck on a really lousy excuse for a telnet program, and had basically no editing ability (not even backspace), so his poses will be somewhat ragged. Naith of Lorien You stand riverside, in Dwimordene, amidst the grey bowls of the mallyrn and the conceiling underbrush on the eastern banks of the river Celebrant. ... Contents: Gallia Kestrae Giltir Obvious exits: Upstream leads to Upper Riverside. Downstream leads to Harbor Pathway. Northeast leads to Forest Path. Across leads to Western Bank of the River Celebrant. Haldir stands up from where he's been sitting, grumbling to himself about something. Then, louder, "Bah. I suppose if I must deal with that human, I must. Giltir! Attend me!" Kestrae watches this quietly, moving to an area off to the side. Giltir stands up too and nods to Haldir, after a quick nod to Gallia, "Yes, Sir... I'm ready" Gallia turns to Haldir. "Would it be helpful for me to come as well? Or shall I remain here?" Haldir nods, then turns and walks down to the river. He stands there waiting impatiently as the guards throw ropes across, and calls back as Gallia speaks, "Wait! We will return here soon enough." Gallia nods, and stands where she is. Giltir follows Haldir near the river, glancing across it from time to time. The guards finish stringing the ropes, and Haldir hops up, then runs lightly across.
An elf comes running across the river ... no wait ... he's on a rope stretched taut, just over the river. The elf drops to the shore without a noise, then walks slowly up the bank, his hooded head swinging from side to side as he looks around.
+look Kayl Giltir climbs up from out of the riverbank. Kayl sits by his fire, sipping on his tea eating some biscuts he has carried with him Haldir walks slowly away from the bank, stopping once to kick a black dagger off to the side, into one a large of ash which sets there; the remains of a huge fire. All around, grass is trampled, and red and black spots stain the grass. A tall man, with a grey cloak about him a hood lays on his shoulders. The cloak is long and hangs down to almost his ankles with a slit up the back that allows him to ride a horse and opens on his right side. The hood of the cloak is pushed back and lays across his shoulders, blond hair flows around his head and face. You see eyes of a blue that seems almost crystal. He smiles yet the truth is held in his eyes. His feet are covered with boots of black, but you cannot see the tops because of the cloak. There is a black medallion that holds the cloak closed on his right shoulder. The cloak, although a bit dirty from tavels, looks in good shape, and can blend in with the woods easly. You see no weapons, yet you really see very little of the man, as he is constantly keeping the cloak closed. Giltir follows Haldir, remaining on his right and a bit on his back. Haldir rests a hand lightly on the hilt of his sword, then moves toward the human now sitting by a small campfire. Slowly, cautiously, and with several stops as he turns to scan the trees. This elf seems very tense. But still he approaches, until he is at a point about 10 feet away, across from the fire. Kayl starting to lift his head at a sound, he decides not to and waits, his head held down, then looking up he sees the Elves, standing he bows Giltir stops too but he doesn't seems nervous... Kayl setting down his cup he eyes the two "Good morn, <looking about> It seems as I was hunting, you had problems>? Giltir blinks to these words and turns to Haldir, but remains silent. Haldir stands for several long moments, saying nothing. His face and form are hidden with the folds of his cloak, and little may be told from his stance. Finally he speaks though - in a voice which seems slightly high-pitched for a human, but is clear and carries through the woods. The voice is oddly accented, and slow, but understandable. "Morning, yes. Good? I will not say that. You ... your assessment is most correct. Strange that you were not here when the yrch attached! It makes one wonder. Yet word has reached me of you from others, and now I am bidden to attend to you. Stand, human!" Kayl stands "I had gone hunting, as I will not kill anything within your words, if that is strange, I know not, but only did as I felt you would not like me killing in these woods. Haldir's cloaked head dips slightly, and he speaks softly, "Perhaps. Or perhaps you aid them, and act as a distraction for us. You are one of those horsemen from the south ... those Ro-hir-im. Your kind have come here before, and they did not came in peace. What purpose have you here now?" Giltir is standing still near Haldir, you can view his face as he's not wearing a cowl (that is leaned on his back). Kayl pausing a moment he looks at the one who speaks, his blue eyes search him "I have as much hatred of those from the black lands as you do. Yes I h//am Rohirrim and I come in peace and to invite you to a gathering we are to have in the fall, I shall journey father north and also invite more. But if you think that I come to distract and cause tyou harm, that is not so. The sun rises over the trees, flashing on the golden leaves of the Mallyrn. Kayl reaches into his Tunic and pulls out an object, one that is closed into his hand "A friend of mine gave me this, he said I should come here one day Haldir shrugs slightly, "Perhaps. Perhaps not. But it is no longer my decision to make. I have been given orders. You are going to be given a singular honor. Perhaps. But I think that if in your heart is even the slightest of deceit, we will know, and you will die. Beware! Consider your next actions closely. For my Lady ... my 'queen', to put things in your terms, has requested herself to examine you. I am to bring you before her. If your courage is there. Haldir reaches up to pull the hood back from his face. Dark grey eyes framed in the fine features of one of the firstborn regard you with a solemn, almost unblinking stare. Kayl listen s to the words, a smile spreads across his face as he opens his hand showing a silver leaf looking up from the leaf he looks at the one "I shall not fear from death from decit, for in my heart dewells good, I thake this as the honor it is given and thank You M'Lord" bows Kayl drops Silver Leaf.
look leaf Giltir turns his gaze to the Leaf, oberving it intently. Haldir's gaze drops to the silver leaf, and he studies it for a moment, but makes no motion toward either Kayl nor the ornament. He speaks again, "It is a pretty medallion. Yet any could craft it, I suppose. It proves little, in itself. Our Lady will judge you. I will take you to our city. But you will not like my terms for that trek." Kayl closing hsi hand once again he puts the leaf, which is obviously held dear to him , puts it back into his tunic "I was given this by one who held the Old ones close to his heart, he told me n..much of his meetings with you" Kayl takes Silver Leaf. Kayl Oh, and what will those be? Haldir replies, his expression blank. "You will submit to a search, and all weapons you bear you must surrender. Should you be allowed to leave again, we will return those then. And you will go on foot. Blindfolded. Your horse we will tend to. At all times you will be guarded, and should you seek to evade those guards, you will never see your home again." Giltir looks Kayl in his eyes as Haldir speaks but you can't notice any particular feeling on his face. Kayl thinks for a moment then with an upturned face, a smile breaks out "As you say, I shall do as such, but if I am to meet the Lady of the Woods, perhaps you would give me a moment to change, as these close I wear o...are for travel. Will you give to me what I ask, and gladly shall I turn over my weapons Haldir shakes his head, "You may take what clothes you wish, once we have searched them to our satisfaction. But it is a long walk - a day's journey or more - so do not be too quick to change. Kayl smiles and turns back to the woods, over his shoulder he speaks "It shall take me but a moment, Haldir glances over to Giltir, then speaks in a sudden rush of musical syllables. "<Sindarin> Giltir! Search this human, and the belongings on his horse. Gather anything which is a weapon, or which might be used as one." Giltir nods to Haldir, "<Sindarin> Yes, Sir..." Kayl deftly takes the poles apart and unties the ropes Kayl pulls the tent pegs loose, then takes them out and sets them with the broken down poles. Kayl puts the pegs and pole pieces together and folds up the tent, rolling it tightly around them. Kayl takes the rolled up tent. Kayl walks to the fire and begins to put it out Kayl carefully put out the fire and gathers together the fire-making kit. Giltir steps towards Kayl and begins to examine him. Kayl holds out his arms and lets the sword be taking from him Kayl takes Fire-making Kit. Kayl reaching down he gives his sword to Haldir Giltir continues his search and found his sword.
Kayl gave you Longsword. Kayl takes Dorin. We agreed via pages that the horse was stabled elsewhere, and that Kayl doesn't really have a horse with him :) Haldir reaches out and takes the sword, holding it gingerly. He turns as Giltir walks by, and hands it to him, murmuring some soft command to Giltir.
Give giltir=longsword Kayl says, "You will take good care of it, it has been in my family for longer than I know, the sword is held as one holds his woman" Haldir smiles wryly, "A pity. We hold our maidens in more esteem than that. But then too, we also are not so given to holding horses and other beasts in our thrall. Giltir nods to Kayl, "Sure... we'll respect your person and your objects too. Just do the same with us." He takes the longsword and offers it to Haldir. Kayl a slight smile spreads on his face as he turns fronm his sword to the one that speaks "Aye, but in our lands, my horse and sword has kept me alive, more than others. Haldir speaks again to the other elf, "<Sindarin> Are his belongings thoroughly searched? We have all that is important?" Giltir nods to Haldir again, "<Sindarin> Yes, Captain... no more weapon or dangerous objects on him... I'm searching his horse too, and his tent." Haldir nods to Giltir's words, then speaks again to Kayl, "Your armor you may keep. This courtesy I extend to you." Haldir turns to face the river, then cups his hands to his face. Suddenly, the call of some wild bird breaks the peaceful quiet of the woods ... a loud sound ... coming from the elf. Giltir turns back and steps near the horse. He examines it closely then he looks into the tent. Kayl watching the Elf search his horse he turns back to the other "" he then looks to the river "I understand that I must he blindfolded, but with my armor and shield to fall into such would most deff meen my death, perhaps we could wait till we reach the other side?" Giltir approaches Haldir again, "<Sindarin> Well... no more of interesting, Sir. What are your orders?" From across the river, an answering sound comes. Then several more ropes come flying across the river, their ends finding purchase around the trunks of several trees, almost with a will of their own. The ropes are pulled taut, leaving a series of cords over the river, vertically aligned. Kayl seeing the ropes come from across the river he takes a step back Haldir points across the river, "<Sindarin> Giltir! Go ahead, and make sure that all that might be there are standing at safe distance. Then whistle for me, and I will send this one across, then follow behind. Kayl begins to make his way to the River, not waiting for an answer Haldir returns his gaze to Kayl. "We will wait til my companion crosses, then signals that the way is clear. Can you maintain your balance on these ropes? We have strung several now so that you might have easy purchase. But your folk are not so gifted in grace, so I do not know. Kayl pausing a moment "Aye, that I can, though we may not be as well <gifted> as yourselves, we do make our way well enough, M'Lord" Giltir nods to Haldir and crosses the river, without a glance to Kayl. Haldir nods slightly, then walks to the river's edge. But he makes no move to cross, he just stares across the water, as if watching for something. Kayl stands next to the Elf, adjusting his armor and uniform to be correct Haldir stands, silent and immobile. Kayl reaches down to the hilt of his sword, which is not there, he does not know what do with his hand, but standing proudly and with honor he waits Haldir speaks, in low tones, "We will hear a signal when we may cross. Have patience. You still have a long journey. Kayl taking in a deep breath he just nods, not letting the fear he fill /// feels escape him "As you say M'Lord" You see that Giltir crosses the river, disappearing into the trees. After a while you hear a whistle coming from across the river. Haldir's gaze flicks up, as a whistle wafts over the river. He points. "now! Cross now, and I shall be right behind you. Kayl nods and begins to cross Kayl is assisted across the Celebrant by some Galadhrim Guards who quickly string up a makeshift bridge for him.
cross The Elf-Guard takes up a defensive position against Kayl! Kayl watches the gaurds, a bit nervious Gallia stands near the riverside, watching as Haldir brings the human across. Giltir is standing near Gallia, more soldiers are with him. Haldir hops up the ropes, and several guards move quickly, coiling them up behind them. They turn and head into the woods, and within moments, all sign of their presence is gone. Several other guards approach, their expressions dark, but Haldir scowls and waves the tensing guards back with an impatient gesture. Giltir looks ot Haldir, "<Sindarin> Everything is ready here. What I have to do with his Horse and his tent?" Kayl seeing the Female Elf he bows "Tis well met again, M'Lady Gallia Gallia inclines her head politely. "Indeed, Kayl. Welcome to the Golden Wood." Haldir glances at Giltir and replies, "<Sindarin> His horse we will place in the stables, or elsewhere, I am not sure yet. That can wait. I need you to come with me now though. For the lady has commanded that this man never be left unguarded! Haldir turns to face Kayl, "Few are those who behold this side of the river, who are not themselves elves. Look around you, and take in what sights you might, for as I said before, from this point on you will travel blindfolded. Kayl says, "I thank you for alowing me to enter wa//what I have heard as trully wonderful, it is my honor indeed to be alowed such a chance" Gallia says in Sindarin, "Perhaps Ambassador Glingol would be willing to take charge of the horse and the human's belongings. I believe he is nearby yet." Haldir glances at Gallia, one eyebrow raised slightly. But he nods, slowly, "Aye. Let it be so, then." Kayl nods///nidding he looks about then stands ready Gallia walks over toward the shadows of the woods, and whistles, listening for a response. Giltir nods to Haldir then he looks towards Gallia, observing his motions. Haldir reaches inside his cloak, then pulls out something small and grey. He holds out the grey thing - some sort of fabric - to Kayl. "This you must don now. And never make attempt to remove it. We will not bind your hands, though we could, and will see that your honor will restrain you. Glingol emerges from the dense forest. I drop a blindfold at this point. The blindfold is really an object which Kayl is climbing inside. Once inside it, he really does not see room descriptions as we move, but hears most of what we say. As best as possible, from this point on we try to make all our poses non-visually oriented whenever Kayl has the blindfold on. You will notice that I also pose a lot of ambience stuff as we travel, just to liven things up. Also, Kayl can't see where he's going, I'm actually pushing him along.
look blindfold Gallia says in Sindarin, "Were you able to hear our conversation, mellon?" Kayl taks the cloth and looks at it, then one // with one last look he puts it on Glingol turns to Gallia and says, "<Sindarin> You called Lady? Yes, I have observed it all, and heard most." Kayl puts on the blindfold. Here I just LOOK again, you can see how Kayl's name changes when he wears the blindfold :) Gallia nods to Glingol. "<Sindarin> If you would be so kind as to take charge of the human's horse and belongings, then?" Glingol says, "For the human's sake, I will use the Westron, since I know of that tongue." Kayl standing yet not sure of the area he does not move Gallia nods. Giltir waves greets to Glingol silently. Kayl hearing the voice in his tounge he starts to turn Giltir approaches Haldir, "Well, Captain... I think I can go back and remove his camp from across the Celebrant". Glingol's voice moves closer to the blindfolded man, "You have nothing to fear of us. Captain Haldir will guide you well." His voice moves away, directed towards another... "Giltir, you are seeing to the man's belongings?" Kayl standing tall, he corsses his arms, the rustle of armor escapes his clothing Haldir sighs, then speaks to the others about him. "Now, we have a long walk, to the city. Kayl, we will lead you, at a pace which will not cause you to stumble. It will be a difficult journey though. This I cannot help.". He nods once to Giltir, then glances to Gallia, "Ready then?" Kayl nods a bit uncertainly Giltir tursnto Glingol, "Nope... I have to remove his tent from across the Celebrant... they are in a dangerous position" He salutes Haldir and waves to the others, then steps towards the river. Gallia speaks slowly and with an accent as she answers Haldir in the strange tongue. "I am ready, mellon." Giltir meets up with a Galadhrim soldier of the Order, and they both head across the Celebrant. Haldir nods, then turns and rests a hand gently on Kayl's shoulder, guiding him along. Kayl turns towards the eastern path and disappears between the trees.
northeast
Forest Path(#22Rnto) Glingol walks in from the Naith. Glingol walks westward. Kayl with a curse he falls to the go//ground Haldir sighs, and leans down to help Kayl up, "Apologies, I did not see that root there. I will watch more closely. Our purpose is to keep our privacy intact, not to give you injury." Kayl trying to stand he almost begins to remove the blindfold "If this is what is expected for me to do... Haldir chuckles softly, "Fear not. Perhaps our food will do something to ameliorate this treatment, when it comes."
northeast Kayl heads deeper into the woods along the northward path.
NE
Forest Path(#16Rao) Kayl nods, standing upright he shakes his head and mutters something about not being treated this way in Edoras Haldir comes to a halt, then speaks quietly, "Hold." Kayl bumbing into someone he stops Haldir takes his hand from your shoulder and walks off; you can hear his steps faintly. Then you hear noises. Rustling noises, as if a bush were being shaken. Kayl still not knowing where he is, he stands still, yet his hands are ready to remove the blindfold if needed Suddenly, a finger taps you on the shoulder, and Haldir's voice speaks again, from a point much nearer than you'd expect. "Here! I have gathered something.". Then he presses something into your hands. You feel a number of small rough surfaced objects, though rough-surfaced. The objects are each just a big larger than the thickness of your thumb. Kayl taking the objects he tries to figutre out what it is, but cannot Haldir adds, "Eat! They are berries. Small and juicy and quite tasty. I do not know your word for them, but they are probably not unknown to you. They grow on a bush, and the bush itself is thick with thorns, and the birds love these berries too. They are dark, a very dark red bordering on black. Kayl pausing a moment he puts one of the things in his mouth, chewing he smiles and eats the rest Haldir rests a hand on your shoulder again, nudging slightly, "Come, we continue on." Kayl nods and begins to be led again Kayl heads out following the northeastern path.
NE
Forest Path(#151Ranto)
Kayl heads southwards along the pathway.
Forest Path(#89RXanto)
Kayl walks southeast.
Forest Path(#166Ranto) The journey goes on. You can feel the warmth of the sun upon your face at times, from different directions, though it seems to be shifting to be more constantly to your left side. Kayl at a few times he stumbles, yet his lead is doing very well after the last fall he had
Kayl walks to the south.
Forest Path(#175Ranto)
Kayl follows the pathway south.
A Meadow in the Forest with a Stream(#193Razo) About the meadow, crickets chirp in the tall grass. Haldir stops again, then speaks quietly. You say, "Here we will rest. You may remove the blindfold for the moment." Kayl takes off the blindfold. Kayl blinking at the light he tries to look around Haldir waves a hand about, taking in the surroundings. "Over there you might find refreshment, and maybe even more berries. I have too some dried meats to chew upon, if you desire. The city is still many hours journey from here though. Kayl as his sight comes back his eyes surbay the area then turning back to the Elf "I am a bit thrusty, but I am not hungry, I thank you though." goes to the stream and kneeling down he sips at the water, then looking up he eyes the area Nightengales sing in the trees about you. Haldir shrugs, "Suit yourself", and reaches into the pouch at his side. He withdraws something, and starts to munch on it himself. Kayl standing up he looks for the brids that make sounds as he has never heard, not seeing them he gives up and goes back to the rest Haldir smiles, "When you feel ready again to walk, tell me, and we shall proceed." Kayl nods and signals he is ready "Please lead on good Sir A light breeze stirs through the meadow. A patchwork of clouds drift across the blue sky. Haldir smiles faintly, "But again, the blindfold. The way becomes much easier now though, for soon we will come to a smooth roadway. Kayl chuckles as he looks at thje cloth in his hand "Oh yes, I had fiorgotten, pardon me Kayl puts on the blindfold. Haldir once again leads you along through the path. About you, you can hear the noises of the woods. Crickets chirping and insects whirring, birds singing, and the occasional squirrel chattering.
A Meadow in the Forest with a Stream(#193Razo)
Kayl walks southward.
Forest Path(#196Ranto)
Kayl walks southward.
Clearing(#199Ranto)
Kayl walks southward.
White Road(#203Ranto) The walk goes on for an interminable amount of time. The position of the sun seems now to be on your right side rather than the left. Kayl feling the sun he tries to remember the directions, yet with the loss of time he is not sure Suddenly, the footing underneath changes, and Haldir's gentle hand turns you to the left. Now the surface is harder, smooth, and your boots clack on the surface. Kayl smiling "Ah, I was begining to wonder if you had roads here Haldir chuckles, "Of a sort. The journey is mostly done now. This is what you'd call a road, yes, though it is perhaps also art.
White Road(#203Ranto)
Kayl walks east along the roadway.
White Road(#206Rnto) You continue to walk along the hard surface, your boots clicking on the roadway. The elves around you though - there is no sound from their passage now. Yet you can hear them breathing, or exchanging soft words in their musical tongue.
Kayl follows the road southeast.
White Road(#212Rnto) Kayl hearing soft b// voices he turns his head, but still being led he wan't s top//to heare the words
Kayl follows the road south.
White Road(#215Rnto)
Kayl heads southward along the White Road...
White Road(#224Rnto) I begin to emit noises to correspond to the traffic we'd probably have near the city. By pure coincidence, a few folk showed up immediately afterwards to help make more noise :-) As you travel, the sounds of voices become more prominent, and more numerous, and many now come from in front rather than behind. The chatter seems somewhat excited in some cases, and the sounds of gathering elves ever more evident. Kayl stops and shakes the lead Haldir stops beside you. His voice comes clear over the chatter, "Something amiss? It is not much further." Haldir exclaims suddenly, apparently not directed at you. "Go on! Shoo! Have you not seen one of the edain before? There will be time later! make way, make way!" Kayl turning his head, though not seeing "I feel as if I am beeing used as a talking thing, I wish to know where I am...I ...never mind lead on Several other elven voicese answer, some in apparent protest, some laughing and teasing. But the noises fade a bit, as those about apparently fall back. Kestrae travels in from the eastern road. Kestrae blinks and runs up to the two. "Glendor wishes to know if he is hurt..." Glendor travels in from the eastern road. Kayl hearing the voice he turns Kestrae stays to one side, out of range of the human, should he turn violent. Kestrae steps near Haldir, quietly asking, "Has he faught you? Do you know who he is?" Kayl trying to stop, he cannot so the chuckle escapse him Haldir's voice comes from your left, "Kes? You ... you are concerned for this one? I thought you would rather see him as our main course." I wink at Kes at this point, though Kayl doesn't see it Kestrae ha's! "I care not for these... heathens. It will be a strange day indeed when a human proves useful!" Kayl not taking it anymore he removes his blindfold Kayl takes off the blindfold. Haldir's hand clamps on Kayl's shoulder. "I did not say you might do that!" Kayl blinking he looks about Glendor walks closer, close enough to see that one of the walkers is a human. Just as he approaches, the man removes the blindfold. Glendor grips his staff tighter, and shifts his glance betewwn Haldir and the escorted man, "<Sindarin> Is he your prisoner?" Kayl looking at Haldir "Atye but such speak of me o//as a main course concers//conecerns me Haldir's voice drops low, taking on a tone of menace, "When we reach where we need be, then you might see what we permit. Until then, you will abide by our rules, which state that you travel in the dark. Fortunately for you, this spot is not one of particular worry. Kestrae eeps and steps back, squishing an older elf's toes. He shouts and moves back, out of her way. "See! Even now he wishes to learn our secrets!" Haldir nods to Glendor, then replies quietly, "<Sindarin> Aye, I guess you could say that. Or perhaps a guest. The Lady has commanded that I bring him to the city, where sh e herself will look into his heart, or his intentions. Kayl pausing and looks about he sees the Elfs looking at him, he reluctantly peplaces the blindfold Kayl puts on the blindfold. Kestrae turns to Glendor. "Can't you dose him or something, so he can pose no threat?" Kayl lets out a soft laugh "I pose not threat, fear not M'Lady Glendor frowns, "Treat? He? In the middle of the wood? He would be scewered by archers before he makes a step. There won't be enough left to feed your dog." Kestrae scoffs, moving infront of the man so he can hear what she says quietly. "You and your brethren have oft come in peace, yet manners oft fail and place innocent elves at risk." Kayl quickly removing the blindfold to see who accuses hem "I have notnor has any from my land, my lady Kayl takes off the blindfold. Kestrae steps quickly away and watches Kayl. "Perhaps not... I have never met one such as you, but I have yet to see a noticable different among your race." Haldir speaks again, laughing now, "Enough! There will be plenty of time for this later. For now I must bring this one to the city, where the Lady herself shall see to his intents.". He fixes a glittering eye on Kes, "Or do you doubt our Lady's skill at this?" Kestrae blushes, dipping her head at Haldir's words. "I trust our Lady with my life, but I trust this one" points to Kayl, "only as far as I can throw him..." Kayl glancing at Haldir he returns his gaze on the Lady "If hut you <sorry let me start again > "I hurt you I wanted to do, I could have, but I also know if I did, I would be cut down as any animal, I come in pease and My words will ring true as my heart is, I have done nothing to harmy you so I understand not why you say the things you do Haldir nods slightly. "Yet you will have no cause for fear. He will not be left unguarded at any time. For that is my command, and the will of our Lady also." Glendor steps closer to Kestrae, seeing the human challenge her. He frowns slightly at Haldir's words, "<Sindarin> Then you better escort him away, and fast. You may be forced to guard him from some of the Elves. An unusual assignment it would be, I am sure!" Kayl saying enough he replaces the blindfold Kayl puts on the blindfold. Haldir looks up at Glendor, then chuckles, nodding slightly. Kestrae shakes her head, not believing. "Maybe some day I will believe... but not yet. It would be a rare human to be worthy of trust." Haldir speaks again, in the coarse tongue of Men, "Come, let us move along. I would rather debate this over a mulled cider and fruit tart than a hot roadway. Kayl says nothing but stands still then "Perhaps you may, if you give the chance, and not shut ott those of us that bring pease" Kestrae looks up at Glendor. "Are you satisfied with his health? I know they are fragile and must be watched." Kayl chuckles Glendor shrugs, "I have not had a chance to examine his health yet, so be careful with him. It appears the Lady wants him alive. However, it does not look like he is badly hurt. Oh, speaking in this tongue is tiresome!" Kestrae nods, smiling up at Glendor. "Aye! Even their tounge is course... but I do not wish to be called disrespectfull." Kayl shakes his head, a look of concern spread scorss his face The following banter between Kestrae and Haldir refers partly to things in a prior conversation between the two, where Haldir has been razzing the gullible Kestrae. Don't expect the comments about rabbits and innocent creatures to make much sense to you ... Haldir chuckles, then pipes up, his voice carrying a teasing tone, "Respectful? You? I am most surprised! I shall have to repay this courtesy. Perhaps a nice stew. A nice rabbit stew?" Glendor laughs, and his reply, in the Elven tongue this time, rings through the air, "<Sindarin> I am afraid it is too late for that!" Kestrae frowns, a cry coursing from her lips. She scowls and very quietly says, "That is the kind of thing I'd expect a human to say.. perhaps you are one?" Glingol travels in from the eastern road. Kayl says, "One? I understand not whay you say, if you care to explain..." Haldir snickers softly, then adds, "Fear not, human. I have just placed my own barb, and struck a nerve in this noisy one's heart. Kayl smiles and just nods Kestrae turns to the human with a chuckle. "Watch the one who holds you.. he likes to harm innocent creatures..." Haldir laughs, "Then by your own words, the human is safe, is he not? Kayl letting out a laugh "Well as I am not a creature, nor innocent, and he has led me well I fear not" Haldir motions, "Come come! Let's move, and resume this talk on the other side of the river. Kestrae frowns, stamping her small foot with frustration. "You aren't being helpful, you know!" She glares at Haldir, then the human and shrugs. Kayl nods and wait for the lead Glendor laughs with the other Elves, "Well, one good has already come out of this strange visit." Haldir grabs Kayl's arm, and turns and walks on down the road, still chuckling under his breath. Kestrae turns to Glendor. "And what is that?" she asks as she watches everyone laugh.
Kayl walks westward.
White Road(#227Ranto)
Glendor travels in from the easterly direction along the paved road. Glendor speaks, through laughter, "We all are amused, and have a good laugh!" Haldir speaks, "Careful now, human. We are crossing a bridge. The ground will shift beneath your feet. But I will hold you steady. Kestrae turns a bright red, but says nothing as she walks along behind. Kayl nods, a lok of concern crosses his face
Kayl walks northward onto the bridge.
On the Bridge(#253Rnto)
Kestrae has arrived. At the gates to the north, The elves nod slowly. "Mae govannen, Ambassador." The sound beneath your feet changes to a hollow echoing sound, and the rush of water below can be heard. But you are led on, and the noises fade away.
Kayl walks northward up to the gates of the city.
The Gates of Caras Galadon(#257Rao) Glendor comes across the bridge. The elves nod slowly. "Mae govannen, Attendant." Kestrae comes across the bridge. Haldir speaks now, in a sterner voice. "Now, Kayl. Remove the blindfold, and behold! Behold what few of your kind have ever seen, nor ever will. Kayl removes the blindofld Kayl takes off the blindfold. Kestrae mumbles something that sounds like, "Thank Yavanna..." Haldir holds out his hand, "I will take that now, you no longer will need it. Kayl looking about, he turns to take it all in, his mouth is slightly ajar "Aye it is more than I had thought" Glingol stands by the gates and says to Haldir, "<Sindarin> News of the man's arrival has been sent to the Lady, Captain." Haldir Glances to Glingol and nods, "<Sindarin> Excellent! Now, we must find a place to put this man. In the diplomatic chambers do you think? Glingol then addresses Kayl in Westron, "I am Glingol of House Celebithil. Welcome to our City." Kestrae stands off to one side, watching with quite a lack of enthusiasm. Glingol nods, "<Sindarin> That should be fine, unless other arrangements have been made..?" Kayl bows to Glingol "I thank you, I am called Kayl, Captain of the Westfold, of Rohain and I thank you sir" Haldir shakes his head, "<Sindarin> None that I know of. Either there or the guest telain. In either case, I will leave a guard. He will not be permitted to roam freely! Glingol'a eyes light up and he says to Haldir, "<Sindarin> Is this true? A man of Rohan? We know so little of that young folk..." Kestrae watches as the two discuss and pipes up: "<Sindarin> You should put him in the guest talan.. I would hate to see the diplomats killed..." Haldir starts to reply to Kes, then suddenly stops. He looks at Glingol, and then with a twinkle in his eye, just goes, "hmm ...." Laupilin comes through the gates. Laupilin walks through the gates slowly, until noticing Haldir. Then he slows to a stop. Glingol shakes his head and says, "Please excuse me, Kayl, I forget that you do not know our tongue. We have had a small joke at your expense... and mine I'm afraid!" He returns the twinkle to Haldir. Kayl waits for the Elves to talk to him and not to each other in thier tounge Kayl nods and smiles "Many jokes have been had at my expense, M'Lord" Kestrae giggles as she watches, looking at the human. "YOu are lucky that the worst of our warriors are patrolling the border... At least these might let you be comfortable." Haldir laughs again, "Come come. Into the city itself. Human, there is a long climb ahead of you. I hope you know how to climb a hill. I know you don't see hills much where you come from. Glingol laughs, "I am no Lord, but simply one of those who's duty is it so study outsiders, a diplomat if you will." Kayl nods and smiles then turning to the Lady "Aye and why is that, surely thy ou///whould have not attacked one that did not attack ? Kestrae +whispers to Laupilin, "He ... ... warrior, and ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..." Laupilin nods to Kestrae, pondering something. Glingol adds for the benefit of his companions, "<Sindarin> ...and at least he is not one of the Stunted Ones! Have some courtesy." Kayl turns to Glingol "Well then much have we to discuss, yes? Kestrae smiles sweetly. "Is it wrong to attack first if it will keep the Woods clear of bad sorts?" Haldir snorts, "<Sindarin> Nay, not a naugrim. Just a man who loves his horse too much." Glingol turns back to Kayl, "Very well then, if Captain Haldir will permit, we shall ascend into the city." Laupilin says in Sindarin, "he is a human, though. do not trust him TOO much." Kayl Nay M'Lady it is not, but one should be sure if the one you atatack is truly bad" Haldir claps a hand on Kayl's back. "Come! Into the city. At least there you will be fed. You have walked a day and some, with little but berries and water to sustain you. Our courtesy is not quite so ill as that. Kestrae smiles at the human. "I -dare- you to prove me wrong..." Kayl over his shoulder "I shall" The gates open silently and you enter a deep lane formed by the ends of the great wall. Passing quickly through, you come to. . .
Bottom of Hill(#263Rno) Kayl passes through the gates, and comes to join you here. From the opposite side of the Gate, Kestrae laughs merrily. From the opposite side of the Gate, Laupilin stands, attentive, trying to listen to the common speech. Glingol passes through the gates, and comes to join you here. From the opposite side of the Gate, Kestrae turns to the other elves and shrugs. Kestrae passes through the gates, and comes to join you here. Kayl looks at the cat, a smile spread on his face Haldir marches Kayl up the winding steps. Laupilin says in Sindarin, "where are we taking him, captain?" Haldir glances at Glingol, "<Sindarin> Well? Do you have an appropriate place for him?" Kayl begins to head up the stairs, he straightin up his uniform as he goes Glingol shrugs, "<Sindarin> I suggest the guest quarters in the Diplomatic Hall. If the Lady has invited such a one to the very heart of our realm, then we must treat him with some honor at least." Kestrae follows the others up the stairs quietly, shaking her head. Haldir nods, then replies to Glingol, "Then lead." Glingol turns to Kayl, "Come, we shall find suitable quarters for you, where you may also refresh yourself." Glingol begins to climb up the Great Stairway. Kayl begins to climb up the Great Stairway. Laupilin begins to climb up the Great Stairway.

Glendor arrives from the Marble Roadway below. Kayl glances back at the Lady but says nothing
Kayl climbs up the steps.
Great Stairway(#349Rnto) Glingol comes down the steps. Glendor glaces at the human, then at Haldir, "<Sindarin> I should be allowed some time to examine him. They have many diseases we never know, and I believe the Lady wants to see him in a state where he's able to speak, at least." Kestrae follows along behind, forced to snicker when she hears what Glendor says. "<Sindarin> Aye! Who knows what wretched diseases he has!" Laupilin shudders softly. Haldir raises an eyebrow, looking at Glendor, "<Sindarin> If you want to check for disease, then do so, but I think you will find nothing. So what if he be ill? Those will not affect US. And he has ridden all the way from Rohan without difficulty. It is not as if he was in any fight lately. Not like our own guards. Glingol waves his hand dismissively, "<Sindarin> Do you honestly think anything of Men can be a danger to the First Born? Where is your common sense, mellyn?" Glendor shakes his head, as if in doubt, then adds in Westron, "Besides, if there is a truth in what he says, and he is with those who resist the Shadow as well as they can, it is my duty to make sure he is well" Haldir clears his throat, looking slightly discomfitted, then murmurs again in Westron, "Come come. Let us continue." Glendor nods to Glingol's words, and smiles to Kestrae, "<Sindarin> Do not worry, nothing he may have will affect you" Elendir comes up the stairs. Kayl unsre of what has transpired he turns to Glendor I am well, why do you ask Laupilin chuckles, nodding. Kestrae nods, smiling. "Aye! Let us get him safely to where he can be watched." Glingol nods as if the matter is closed, and motions them onwards. "Come, we are nearly at the top." Kayl shurggs and follows Glingol climbs up the stairs. Elendir wanders up the stairs. He looks around, and sees a lot of people. He then turns to the east and walks off. Elendir follows the roadway eastward.
Glendor climbs up the stairs.
Lawn(#376Ratzo) Glendor raises his brow at Kayl, "Transpierd? Ah... No, no. I was just ... concerned wit your health." Kayl smiles "I asure you sir, my health is fine" Glingol casts his arms open, taking in the lawn, "Behold the heart of Caras Galadon, and the dwelling of the Lady Galadriel and our Lord Celeborn." A crow caws harshly overhead. Kayl looks around, truly inspired "It is most fitting of one I have heard as the most beutiful, I aplaud your craftmanship" Glingol casts his eye upwards, "And thus are my pompous words admonished," he says with a chuckle. Haldir smiles wryly, then speaks softly, "Someone should run to fetch a tray of food. Let it not be said that we don't feed our guests. Glendor grins slightly, "<Sindarin> I wonderwhat is the dwelling of their king. No doubt, they hold it beautiful" Kestrae giggles as she listens, taking amusement from the words of the human. Kayl nods "aye a bit to eat would be good, except for my breakfast of biscuts and the berrys I was given I have not had much to eat Laupilin sighs, straining to understand the Westron. Glingol nods, "I will attend to that myself, Captain. And while refreshment is being obtained, I will check on quarters for our guest." Haldir nods to Glingol. Kayl hearing of quarters it dawns on him that i//he is a bit tired and just nods Glingol then adds, "<Sindarin> And, Captain, we should discuss guard arrangements as well... I suspect our honored guest is not to be left completely to his own devices." Haldir laughs at Glingol's words then nods again. "<Sindarin> no, of course not. He is to be guarded at all times, and not let to travel anywhere alone." Kayl looking around "My home is also built on a hill, and to climb up is most rewaring, but yours is most Different than ours" Glingol turns to Kayl, "As Haldir has probably informed you, you are not to wander about except under escort. Please accept my apologies for the dark times that make this precaution necessary." He nods to Haldir, "...and now I will check on his quarters." Glingol walks northward. Haldir nods, "As you will. We will wait. Kayl nods understanding "I understanding and will abide by your laws, you have my word Kestrae stands to one side, watching the humn as if studying him. Glendor nods, with a slight smile, "It would be wise, yes." Kayl nods understanding then turning to the female "It seems you hold us humans in disdain, may I ask as to why? Birds cheep merrily in the trees nearby. Glendor turns to Kestrae, then suddenly winks to her. Laupilin turns to Haldir. "<Sindarin> sir, may i be excused for a bit? i must find gallia..." Haldir turns to Laupilin. "Aye. But return. You will stand watch over this human." Laupilin says in Sindarin, "aye, sir." Glingol approaches Haldir and speaks quietly to him, "<Sindarin> I have prepared the Celebrant Room in the guest annex. I think it should be easy enough for your guards to keep an eye on him there." Laupilin climbs down the steps. Haldir nods to GLingol, "<Sindarin> Lead then. I know not the ways of that tortuous place." Kayl waits for Kestrae to respond, yet noticing all that goes on Kestrae laughs, watching Kayl for a moment. "I do not think I need to answer one such as you, but in an effort to be polite, I will answer... While living in Rivendell.." She pauses to see if this name is recognized, then continues. "There were many humans. The leader of one group was very crude, rude and tried to hurt me. I find it hard to believe that there are those who aren't as the rest seem to be." Glingol coughs, as if reluctant to interrupt, "...If you would follow me, a place has been prepared for you. Food and drink has been fetched and awaits you there." Kayl nods at the name Rivendell the pauses, his eyebrows frowning "Yes I make no claims that all of us are good nor with honor, yet I hope to show you that I am. You see, we Fight constantly with the , I know not what you call them, but we call them Orcs, from the South, and in a strange times also from the West, I dare say that we try to protect the lands to our north from the evil spread of darkness, yet as I saw this morning we do not do all. Glingol intakes sharply and mutters, "Yrch!" Kestrae nods as Kayl speaks, then looks toward the others as they attempt to lead the human on. She smiles a bit, whether forced or real is unsure. "Then I thank you for fighting them. I do not wish to." Haldir grumbles, "Please, might we move along? Even my own feet are wearied. Glingol nods, and gestures north... Glingol walks northward. Kayl hearing the word "Yes that is why you call such Yrch. But we have also seen those that are more like a cross of the foul creatchers, and humans, they were tough to bring down, We lost one ho...whole town, all were slain" drops his head Glendor shifts his glance between the human and Kestrae, chukhling under his breath, "<Sindarin> So, now we have the mortals to thank for our protection?" Kayl sighs deeply and also begins to head nothward Kestrae glares at Glendor. "<Sindarin> I am trying to be nice, as you would have me be." Haldir raises an eyebrow, then speaks suddenly, "Kayl: I wish to talk to you about that. but not now. I think I saw the very place you name. Glingol adjusts a screen to block the breeze, then says, "Here you shall be lodged for the time being. There is food and drink, and if you should need anything further, please ask a guard, who will fetch somebody who understands your tongue." Kayl bows "I had not suspected a room such as grand as this, I thank you. As of leaving I shall not, and Yes I do hold my life dear.
