SUBMITTED BY: Galenaldar, November 18th, 1996

This log dates from a rather fun TP which occurred some months ago. I only recently got the log, and regret that we didn't have it online much sooner. It's a lot of fun. -ed (Haldir).

This log begins several poses after the RP did. Erdin, Aracynn,
and several other Rohirrim are camped in the outskirts of the Golden
Wood with a galadhrim they had taken prisoner in Rohan. I
(Galenaldar) have been 'assigned' to watch them to make sure they
don't cause harm to the wood while the Lord & Lady of Lorien consider
the prisoner exchange...our Erinstar for their Fiordor. As a
watcher, the rohirrim know me as 'Tirdae' (basically means
'shadow-watcher' or 'shadowy-watcher' in Sindarin). Erdin just awoke
to find their horses missing and strange tracks on the ground.
Shortly, other galadhrim will begin to move on a plan we came up with
to spook the rohirrim out of the Wood with strange lights, noises,
ect... It just so happens that a violent storm moves in ect ect ect

...and a very puzzeled look crosses his face. Then looks at the place
where the horses were tied and sees them gone...

Galenaldar remains standing, unmoving. If you didn't know better,
this 'Tirdae' could very well be a statue of granite.

Erdin with urgency in his stride he makes his way to where the horses
were and looks for tracks, seeing none, he looks for blood but sees
none. He then truns back to the fire, very puzzeled

Erdin he sees a strange figure just past the fire light and quickly
draws his sword and advances, clutching the sword with both hands.

Galenaldar moves swiftly and silently towards you until he's standing
just a couple of feet in front of you. He then puts his hand on your
sword and moves it to the left slightly, "Now that won't be
necessary."

Erdin alows his sword to be moved then studies the Elf. With anger
rising in his voice "What fell beast have you let upon us...I told
you we came in peace, did I not?

Galenaldar speaks in a low and steady tone, "This was no work of the
edhel. These woods have a mind of their own towards unwelcome
visitors."

Erdin turns from the Elf in a huff and points his sword to the claw
track "Aye, of that I am sure, but you know all that comes to your
woods. (turns back to the Elf) "What say ye?

I have a DARK object nearby that serves as a means for me to
dissapear into the shadows around the forest. Throughout this RP
I'll be SHADOWing and APPEARing. I've edited out the spammy room
descs to better aide the flow of the log

They're dark, like all shadows.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin sees the Elf gone and lets out a loud
yell that shakes through the trees "AHHHHHHH, for the love of
HELM....

You say, "I say only to beware of the wood. It has deemed you
unwelcome and will treat you as such."

The sun sinks in the sky and falls below the horizon. Nighttime takes
over.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin turns quickly in a circle watching the
woods. Sword held ready and high over his head, he says in anger
"Come...let us be done with games...

Western Bank of the River Celebrant

As you turn in your circle, your eyes fall to rest on Tirdae. Somehow
he has moved across the camp and is now standing as he was before,
but now is some 30 feet from you.

Erdin with his back turned, he neither sees nor hears the Elf. His
sword still held ready to attack...Then seeing the Elf he shakes his
head "I said we come in peace, why all this then? (stops wanting to
say more but holds his tounge)

Galenaldar speaks in the same quiet tone, "Have we raised a weapon
towards you? Nay, but twice tonight you have moved on me with sword
raised. What say you to this?"

Erdin angerly he stabs the sword into the ground and waves his arm
across the camp "What would you do? My horse...Rilaas...is gone and
perhaps being eaten as we speak...But you know your woods well and
what crosses it. Yet you tell me naught.

You say, "You seem to be more worried about your horses than
yourselves. Horses are wise animals...wiser than men at times.
They're probably on their way back home already."

Galenaldar takes a step back away from the fire, and in an instant is
gone from sight.

grabs his sword in anger aand walks to the fire.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin sits by the fire. He lays the sword
next to him and stirs the fire with a stick. He puts a few more loggs
on it to brighten the flame.

Erdin looking very sullen he stirs the fire with a stick

From just behind you, a quiet voice speaks, "When you have finished
your business, and attempt to leave, I'm sure the Wood will permit
it. Until then, though, I would watch myself. The Wood seems to
distrust your being here."

Erdin turns quickly, almost falling of his log seat. "I, nor the rest
of us, haven any ill will here. Yet to leave with out our
horses...Well we cannot till we find out their fate.

Erdin rubs his face with both hands and thinks "There is more as to
why we are here...(his voice trails off)

You say, "Trust that your horses will make themselves apparent when
you have need of them. Our Wood may have it's way with you and your
comrades, as it sees fit. It is not cruel, however, and harbors no
ill will against an inocent animal such as your horse." He then
pauses, "More? Of what do you speak?""

Erdin stands and paces by the fire, takeing a moment before answering

Galenaldar stands motionless, awaiting an answer.

Erdin begins to speak, at first haultingly "I have done something
very wrong...

Galenaldar listens patiently, no signs of emotion on what little you
can see of his face in the shadows of his cowl.

Erdin stops and stares at the Elf "But of which I am not sure that it
is to you that I should speak.

Galenaldar returns Erdin's stare, "Oh, and how do you know who I am
or to whom you should speak? I suggest you continue as this news
seems important to me and my people."

Erdin sighs heavly, returns to the fire and picks up his sword which
he puts away. He rubs his eyes "I don't know of who I should speak. I
have made friends with a Ranger, as we call them, he has said that I
am not to fear you but to trust you. Of this I am still uncertain,
but have put my self against my peoples wishes, I fear.

+remove cowl
Removed: Studded Leather Helmet

Erdin looks at the Elven features, a slight releaf cross his face

Galenaldar takes a step towards you and looks deep into your eyes for
long moments before speaking, "This...Ranger...what was his name?"

Erdin watches the Elf close the gap, a bit of uncertainty crosses his
face "His name is Elorian, but I am sad to say I have not seen of him
nor heard of him in some time.

Galenaldar looks about slowly, searching for prying ears before he
speaks quietly, "You say he told you to trust us. Trust us with what?
Certainly he did not council you to bring your men to Dwimordene to
befriend the Edhel."

Erdin lets his shoulders slump "Most Rohirrim do not trust the Elves.
I know how to get here because he told me the way. Why he did, I am
uncertain, but told me he did. Now, at this time, I may understand
his ways a little. Well as much as one can of the Rangers, I guess.

Galenaldar speaks quietly with no change in his demeanor, "You will
have to judge us for yourself. Ages of wisdom tell us to lay our
trust and friendship based on the action of another, not the
recommendation of one." He takes a step back and replaces the cowl
over his head.

+wear cowl
Wearing: Black cowl with a grey cloak

Once again, the strange elf has become a statue of granite, standing
motionless not even his cloak stirs in the breeze.

Erdin frowns "I wish you would not do this hidding of you. We Rohir
beleave to look one in the eyes as we talk. This is most distressful
to me.

Galenaldar takes another step back, "If you cannot master even the
simplest of childhood fears, then I'm afraid I have little to say to
you." And with that, he takes two more steps and once again loses
himself in the foliage.

shadows
forest shadows
They're dark, like all shadows.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin hummps and turns back to the fire, a
hand rubs his face as he sits, as if trying to rub the confusion of
his actions and the strangeness of all this away.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn has connected.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin looks up at the few stars he sees and
in a soft voice "Ah, Helm, what have I done...I like it here not, but
can I return home? You have guided me all my life, give me guidence
now.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn snaps a twig as she
approaches,"Capt.?"

From beyond the shadows, Erdin hears a noise from behind him, he
turns quickly and stands "Ah Aracynn, tis you.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn says, "Yes, why is it that you speak
to Helm this night? Is our reason here not clear to you?"

From beyond the shadows, Erdin says something unintelligible.

From beyond the shadows, From Above the River Celebrant, Galindrion
runs across the rope to some spot high in the trees in the Golden
Wood.

From beyond the shadows, Just downriver, you see the rope which was
strung across the river suddenly come free at one end, and then you
watch it as it is quickly retracted up into the trees somewhere.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn looks out into the night,"Who goes
there."

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn says something unintelligible.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin shruggs and looks concerned "I
sometimes know not Lady Aracynn. I have *never* gone against the
orders I am to carry out.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn shruggs, never having had to deal
with that.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin motions Aracynn nearer to the fire and
points to the ground "See what I found...(points to the tracks of
which the back mark is a deep claw print)

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn stoops t p lok closely at the
tracks,"What could have made those?" Sounds a little shaken.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin shakes his head "I know not, never
have I seen such. But it is worse, much worse I fear. The supplies
are ripped up and ...

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn stands clearly shaken,"And what?"

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn says, "I don't understand, why would
the horses not have warned us?"

From beyond the shadows, Erdin looks down and motions to where the
Horses were tied. In a very sad voice "The horses are gone

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn places a hand to her throat,"No. no
that can't be..."

From beyond the shadows, Erdin nods "Tis true, but I searched the
area, and found no tracks, and thank Helm, no blood.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn shakes her head,"Not Aetheldox....."

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn sounds a little lost.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn turns quiclkly from the capt., her
fists clenched,"I will rip out the heart of the one who has harmed
her!"

From beyond the shadows, Erdin turns to the fire, not wishing to see
the saddness in Aracynn "Aye, and Rilaas, well all of them. I talked
to the Elf Tirdae and no news from him was I given.

You lemit: "From the woods behind you, you hear a soft rustling then
complete silence."

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn turns back to wards the woods after
composing herself,"Capt., what fowl mannor of creature could have
taken then without a cound?"

From beyond the shadows, Erdin tries to peer from the campfire light
into the darkened woods. He places his hand on his sword hilt at the
noise

From beyond the shadows, Erdin quickly holds up his left hand and
shhhs Aracynn, while trying to peer into the blackness

appear
Western Bank of the River Celebrant

Aracynn says, "And I would swear that last night in my sleep I heard
a voice repeat the word 'Sorry'..it made no sense to me upon
wakening.""

Aracynn drops into a crouch, her dagger drawn

Galenaldar appears about 25 paces away from Erdin, directly off to
his right side, "I fear you will find nothing, no matter how hard you
look."

Erdin sees the Elf return and stares at the cloacked drawn figure

Aracynn peers into the wood, awaiting the fowl beast with cloven
hooves that took /her/ horse.

Erdin relaxes his hand from his sword "I see you return, Tirdae.

Aracynn sighs and straightens, practivcally slamming her dagger back
into its sheath.

Galenaldar says nothing, but merely stands there motionless and
watching.

Erdin moves to Aracynn's side and places a gentle hand on her
shoulder "You have nothing to say then?

Aracynn blurts, not the smooth talking diplomat you've seen..but a
shaken woman,"What happened to my horse?!?!?

Aracynn says, "What fowl creatures have you lurking in that wood
that would harm an innocent creature "

Galenaldar remains motionless and emotionless in the face of this
outburst. He seems to be studying you, not understanding something.
After several moments he speaks, "I have told your companion here,"
he points to Erdin, "That this wood will harm no inocent creature as
your horse. I'm simply amazed that you can't trust an animal such as
those fine steeds to fend for themselves in the wild. Instead, you
should take more concern for yourselves."

Erdin squezes the shoulder of Aracynn a bit harder "Shhh Aracynn, we
shall find them, fear not. (turns back to the elf) "So, you
understand not the love we have of our horses, but tis the same you
have for your woods.

Aracynn says, "Ypu know so much, yet understand so little."

Galenaldar shakes his head in a motion that is almost inperceptible
in it's subtlety, "Nay, I understand that love. However, the horses
make the wild their home and are one with a forest or meadow. I
cannot say the same for you I'm afraid."

Galenaldar motions with his hand towards the scortched earth under
the fire as though to demonstrate his point.

Aracynn points to the tracks, her voice heated,"That, they do not
understand or know! We are not talking about then larking about in a
glade...we are talig about some foul creature that might have...

Erdin removes his hand from Aracynn's shoulder "Yet, of that we are
uncertain, why you saw the prints on the ground here, yes? I fear not
for my self, I have been in many battles, have seen from Shire to
Gondor, yet my, and Aracynn's horse, has been our loved ones at
times.

Erdin throws up both hands in the air "Ah, I have met a few elves,
seems that you always speak in riddles. Can not your people just say
what is ment?

Here is where the other galadhrim begin with the spooky noises,
lights, ect.

From above a strange noise of a dying animal is heard.

Galenaldar regains his motoinless stature, "I'm afraid you
underestimate the intelligence of your animals. Every answer you seek
is just before your eyes. My concience shall not suffer if you fail
to see what is before you."

Erdin throws up both hands in the air "Ah, I have met a few elves,
seems that you always speak in riddles. Can not your people just say
what is ment?

Aracynn shakes off her remorse and studies the elf closely by the
flickering light.

Aracynn shakes her head,"I think the horses are safe."

From above a strange warble reverberates through the forest.

Aracynn says, "Perhaps you /do/ understand more then I gave you
credit for elf.""

Aracynn continues to study the elf closely.

Erdin quickly places his hand on his sword hilt and looks at the
forest with uncertainty

Aracynn holds up a hand to stay the Capt.,"Capt...remember how
Aetheldox reacted when Erin went to rush at me...bakc in Edoras?"

Strange lights float in the forest canopy seemingly of their own
volition.

Erdin stiffens at the light "HELM, what is it....More Elfen magic?

Aracynn keeps her eyes on the elf, wether she sees the lights is
unknown, for her eyes are locked with the elf's.

Aracynn snaps,"Do you remember, Capt?"

Erdin draws his sword and moves in a circle, nodding to Aracynn but
not taking his eyes offf the forest

Galenaldar stands motionless again. Without even a hint of a breeze
to stir his cloak, he seems as a statue made of granite.

Aracynn points at the tracts,"Do you honsestly think that something
that would have tracts like that would not have motivated her to warn
us?

Aracynn says, "I do not sleep that deeply...and something as fowl as
that would surely have brought sound from her throat."

As Aracynn takes her eyes from the Edhel to point at the tracks,
Galen slips back into the shadows, seemingly dissapearing instantly.

shadows
forest shadows
They're dark, like all shadows.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn addds quickly,"Or left blood."

From beyond the shadows, Erdin never taking his eyes off the forest
that sournds them "Aye, you may right, but this...(points his sword
to the forest and the lights dancing around in them) Please move to
the fire M'Lady!

From beyond the shadows, Suddenly a strong wind blows the sound of
strange laughter and singing from the mysteries of the wood.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn looks back up to where the elf just
stood, giving a small start.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn takes an involuntary step back from
the dark, as she catches herself she stomps her foot on the ground
and replies to the darkness,"I do not like to be toyed with!"

From beyond the shadows, The leaves of the mallorns sway softly in
the night breeze..yet you feel no wind.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin sweat beads on his forhead and drips
into his eyes, he wipes them on his tunic sleave but always holds his
sword at the ready "Tis Elfen magic I deem...

You lemit: "From the shadows around the camp, a quiet steady voice
speaks, "No one is toying with anyone. It is the wood my dear. It has
deemed you and your party unwelcome."

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn says, "They play with us Capt....and
I do not believe that those traks are real...for Aetheldox would not
have gone without a fight, if there was serious threat,""

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn says softly, a bit shaken,"It is
only a wood."

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn says, "And I will not be cowed by
trees.""

From beyond the shadows, The clear note of a single bell tolls a
ringing note deep within the forest.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn straightens her shoulders, tho her
hands remain clenched at her sides.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin a bit of fear in his voice, he replies
to the forest "Then perhaps we shall leave, even with the bagadge we
carry then." (glances at Aracynn, then back to the forest) "Tis not
the trees M"lady, but those who live in them

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn says, "I fear no one, and no wood."

From beyond the shadows, Just downriver, a rope comes sailing out of
the forest on the far bank and lands in a tree on this side! The rope
tightens up. It looks like a rope bridge now crosses the river just
downstream!

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn's voice leads you to believe she
means to convice herself as well as those listening.

From beyond the shadows, From Above the River Celebrant, Himdol runs
across the rope to some spot high in the trees on the west bank of
the river.

From beyond the shadows, Just downriver, you see the rope which was
strung across the river suddenly come free at one end, and then you
watch it as it is quickly retracted up into the trees somewhere.

From beyond the shadows, You hear some slight rustling noises in the
foliage overhead, perhaps from some squirrel or bird in the treetops.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin moves so the fire is behind him and
the noise he has heard is in front of him. He watches thefire light
dance off the trees as he strains to see

appear

A bluish light flashes brilliantly casting large shadows but
extinguishes in a wink.

On the very edge of hearing comes the faint sound of horses whinnying
and neighing, you can't tell where the sounds come from, they seems
to come all directions at once.

From behind Erdin, a soft voice speaks, "I have told you about
mastering your childish fears."

Aracynn takex a quick step forward, whistling shrilly into the night.

Aracynn says something unintelligible.

Aracynn whirls around at the voice.

Galenaldar is there, still as a statue, though a great wind has risen
and his now whipping his cloak around him violently.

Erdin with a muffled voice "Ah HELM. (then turns in the direction of
the horse sounds, then quickly back, his sword almost in a full arc
to strike, but he holds) "Tiss *you* again.

Aracynn's breath is shallow, she stands poised on the balls of her
feet.

Galenaldar speaks quietly. In the surreality of the scene, it almost
seems as though the voice comes from all around the clearing, "Tis
allways me."

The sounds of the horses fade away lost in the wind, perhaps they
were nothing more then your imagation.

Erdin drops the sword point to the ground with a great sigh "So, I
wish to be rid of this place. So as you say, we shall leave.

Aracynn looks around her, up into the trees, as if ready for anything
else that might decide to appear.

Aracynn stands and turns to the Capt. and the elf,"No."

Galenaldar remains motionles in the wind, "Would running from your
fears solve your problems?"

Erdin says something unintelligible.

Aracynn says, "Maybe you did not hear me..I will not leave.""

Somewhere in the canopy above, a great flash ignites like lightening.
And like lightening, is gone a moment later. However, so is Tirdae

forest shadows
They're dark, like all shadows.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin turns to the Elf "Nay, it would not,
for my real troubles lie in front of me at home.

From beyond the shadows, From above a plaintive melody rings out in
one area of a small mallorn as the sound stops its quickly picked up
in a larger mallorn several feet away.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn says, "No daughter of Helm's blood
will be scarred away by noises and lights."

From beyond the shadows, Erdin places his sword between his knees and
cups both hands over his ears to try and stop the sound

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn speaks as much to the woods as she
does the Capt. and ....the now missing elf.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin looks at the Lady, taking up his sword
"Perhaps the Elves wish not of our gift.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn's clear alto voice begins the first
strains of a battle song of the Mark, ment to stir the hearts of th
eRiders in times of peril, when they seemed overwhelmed by the enemy.

From beyond the shadows, As the melody switches from tree to tree it
just as suddenly stops. Then a chorus of unusual voices join in until
silence quickly follows.

You lemit: "From all around your camp, laughter rings out and a
continuing echo that rolls around you like thunder,
"Gift...Gift...Gift....""

From beyond the shadows, Erdin says something unintelligible.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn's voice is strong and true,
reminding the Capt. of the fire in his blood, the fire that has won
out against greater odds then this.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin yells at the woods "You scare me no
longer! So you can stop your games now!

You lemit: "The rolling thunder echo continues to mount as it changes
slightly, "Games ...games...games...""

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn stands tall as the last refrain of
her song dies out into the night.

From beyond the shadows, Erdin picks up his Rohir battle horn and
lets loose a great blow. Then smiles at Aracynn.

You lemit: "A great flash of lightening accompanied by a thunderclap
breaks overhead, and with them comes a great rain."

From beyond the shadows, Erdin pulls up his tunic coller "Tis the
best you can do Elves? A bit of rain, I thought more of you and your
ablities. Seems I over thought of you!

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn stands in the rain that reminds her
of the open plains, she answers to the voice,"I am a Healer to my
people...a student of the great Lady Yavana."

You lemit: "The very natural thunderstorm overhead continues to pick
up intensity as lightning, thunder, wind, and rain all whirl around
you."

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn smiles up at the rain, letting it
wash over her.

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn answers back just as softly,"I look

From beyond the shadows, Erdin tries to duck the limb, but is struck
in the head and falls to the ground

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn turns quickly at the sound of the
limb strikeing,"Capt.!"

From beyond the shadows, Erdin falls to the now mud in a heap

From beyond the shadows, Aracynn sets the Capt.'s head on her lap,
quickly reaching in her satchel for a specific vial.

Galenaldar moves silently to the fallen man, his cloak whipping in
the wind. He's now soaked from head to toe, but doesn't seem to
notice.

Erdin's eyes are closed and he is not moving

Aracynn looks up at the elf, the smile that was on her face gone as
she tries to clean the mud from the wound.

Aracynn answers,"He has been struck by a limb, I must stop the
bleeding,.

Strange grey shapes move through the forest at a distance, darting
from tree to tree in the blink of an eye.

Galenaldar stands motionless as he watches, "Do what you must, he
must not remained injured."

Erdin lies lifeless, blood comes from a wound that runs from his head
and across his forhead.

Galenaldar moves to stand upwind from the now prone Erdin. By doing
so, he blocks most of the wind and rain from driving down on his body
while Aracynn works to help him.

Aracynn nods having finally cleans the wound an dspeads the salve on
it, sighing in thanks to Yavana that the cut id shallow...the
Bloodwort quickly stops the bleeding, even in the rain.

A particularly violent streak of lightning flashes overhead,
illuminating the area as though it were midday. Within seconds, the
flash is followed by a tremendous clap of thunder that shakes your
very bones with its intensity.

Aracynn takes a small tube from her satchel, unstoppering it she
wavies it udnder the Capt's nose.

Erdin coughs and struggles to move

An eery silence falls across the forest.

Aracynn helps Erdin to sit up, /very/ slowly.

Erdin although he never drops his sword, his eyes don't seem to focus
and he sits with only the aid of Aracynn

Aracynn nods in response as she props Erdin up,"There now
Capt....easy does it."

You hear some movement high in the treetops.

Galenaldar stands over Erdin and monitors his progress silently

Aracynn says, "The bleeding has stopped, the cut is shallow, but with
all head injuries, it bleed a lot."

A lone bird sits on a branch, quietly staring.

With a flutter of wings, another bird, black as coal, perches aside
the first and also seems to stare.

Erdin's head falls forward as he throws up and he slumps to the right

Aracynn holds the Capt up while he empties his stomach.

Second and third birds, both steely white, join the first two. Their
eyes are large and focused.

Aracynn sighs,"Be that as it may, I will not leave without the one I
seek."

Birds continue to land, one after another. When the first branch is
full, they begin to land on the branch above. All with the same
strange glare.

Except for an occasional flutter of wings, all is eerily silent.

Aracynn says, "I seek the Capt. Fiordoe of the westfold of
my people."

Galenaldar's cloak whips violently in the wind, but all else in the
area is deathly still under the watching eyes of the birds

Galenaldar studies the healer, not entirely sure who she's speaking
to.

A bird of crimson red perches upon Galenaldar's shoulder, joining in
the chorus of silent eyes.

The rain begins to subside as the storm slowly moves westward. The
thunder and lightning slowly growing more distant as well.

Galenaldar remains perfectly motionless as the bird makes a perch of
his shoulder. It appears as though he doesn't even notice its there.

At this point, one of the other Galadhrim begins @pemitting to Aracynn
alone...I forget what was said, but she started to have a great
conversation with herself. :)

Aracynn speaks softle to the voice,"I cannot."
