Glynnis steps to Paleran's side, crouching next to him and peering over his shoulder curiously. Small Deer> Glynnis says, "I imagine not." Small Deer> Small Deer looks sickly and malnourished. Small Deer> Kathalis whispers softly to the dear, not load enough for any one else to hear what he is saying... Small Deer> Glynnis frowns, a furrow creasing her brow. "Indeed?" She notices the apple slices, then looks at the deer again. Small Deer> Glewlwyd looks up, and quite startled. Small Deer> Paleran inclines his head slightly, and passes a hand over the fawn's nuzzle. He sighs softly once again, exhaling his breath heavily. Small Deer> Glewlwyd sits down close to the deer, and watches Paleran and Glynnis. Small Deer> Glynnis stands, moving towards the Lady as if to confirm this hypothesis for herself, squinting. Small Deer> Paleran cocks his head to one side to peer at Glynnis' movements. He slowly turns his focus towards the deer again, saying a bit louder so that Glynnis may hear his words, "The Lady has been like that for a few weeks, or so I hear." Small Deer> Paleran continues, "The glow apparently represents her situation. I have seen it pulsate a few times, but it has become less luminous with each passing day." Small Deer> Kathalis sighs softly lightly reaching down and touching the deer on the shoulder, trying to incourge it to eat the apple slices still speaking very softly to it.. Small Deer> Paleran continues his focus on the deer as he speaks, "A few short days. That shall be a story for a more pleasant place, however. I have news that would mar this situation, and would rather not speak them here." Small Deer> Glewlwyd follows the river southeast. Small Deer> Glewlwyd has left. Small Deer> Glynnis says, "Little could make worse what you have told me already, Paleran. But be your news welcome or no, you most certainly are." Guardian> Karaks peers out from the dense forest and lets his dark yellow eyes try to adjust to the bright daylight. He squints in dark pain and cups a hand over his face before looking to the right and left. Shaking his head he spits on the ground before turning to Logerth, "Foul light! I can't tell good wood from bad in this cursed light. You're better at this rotten sight, look!" Small Deer lifts her head and smells the air, growing agitated. Glynnis sighs heavily. Glynnis says, "Very well." Small Deer begins to whimper, sniffing towards the North. Glynnis stands, looking around the assembled elves. Glynnis says, "Where are the squires? At the Northern Border?" Kathalis head snaps up and he scans towards the north... Kathalis wades across the river, and continues northwards... Guardian> Kathalis comes up from along the rivers southerly flow... Kathalis has left. Guardian> Kathalis has arrived. OOCGuardian> Kathalis head snaps up and he whistles and quickly tapes like a woopecker a piece of wood.. Paleran shifts his gaze back to the deer, and pats it upon the head as it whimpers, "What's the matter, fawn?" His gaze shifts to the North with the deer, and nods slightly, his back to Glynnis, "Aye, the patrol should be there assigned for the time. I left them not 2 hours hence, and they were there still." He peers with a squint towards the North, but sighs upon not seeing anything. Small Deer crawls away from the Northern part of the area, towards the elves gathered. [Caranwen(#11757)] There is a rustling in the trees as Caranwen approaches from the south. Caranwen makes her way through the leaves and drops to the ground. Glynnis looks at Caranwen. "What?" Small Deer seems to be very agitated, sniffing the air...her nostrils flaring. Her ruff on the back of her neck is raised slightly. OOCGuardian> [Garjin(#23667)] The larger Uruk stands alone, looking off into the forest. His small red eyes not seeing well due to the bright light, but he still peers into the woods around him. His grey weatherd cloak fluttering gently in the breeze. He looks impatiently towards the two woodgatherers. Paleran picks up on the deer's agitations and slowly draws his sword. He continues his gaze towards the North, and then slowly moves in that direction. Caranwen says quietly, "I noticed a large group of you, and sensed tension. [Menelaina(#26757)] High above in the leafy canopy, you hear the familiar sound of a woodpecker knocking against the side of one of the trees. OOCGuardian> Logerht falls to his belly and squirms forward, snaking his way through the bushes [Paleran(#17565)] The leaves rustle in the wind that has picked up in the last few moments. Caranwen sees Paleran wielding his weapon. "Is something wrong?" Glynnis' head jerks up at the noise, breathing hissing between her teeth. "To arms! Yrch!" She moves towards the Lady, bow already in her hand. Caranwen nods swiftly, and swings silently onto a high branch. Paleran moves in a defensive stance to the left and forward, protecting the deer. Small Deer looks around wildly, ready to bolt at any second. [Combat(#13388)] Caranwen draws her bow from her shoulder quietly. OOCGuardian> Karaks presses aside a small green branch and quietly slips down onto his belly from inside the cover of the trees. He gets down and looks toward the south. Cupping his eyes he nods, "There be some great trees there. Let's get us some wood and scatter to the winds." HE starts to crawl his way to the south. Menelaina drops a few minutes later from one of the branches above, landing in a crouch and drawing her cowl back on. She reaches back and grabs her bow. OOCGuardian> [Hooded_Maiden(#12200)] A large amount of rustling and some commotion can be sensed from the South, as if there were a bunch of golden eyes watching the area. Glynnis barks out commands. "Alright: Paleran, take Menelaina and Glewlwyd and see how many there are. Menelaina, give him a quick explanation of our signals on the way." Glynnis looks at Caranwen. "You, up in the trees. Have your bow ready." Caranwen moves her quiver so she can reach it easily, and hops silently from the tree. She steps in front of the deer, at the same time watching the Lady with keen eye. Menelaina nods and salutes, "Yes Knight-PRotector." OOCGuardian> [Garjin(#23667)] The sentry in the grey cloak visibly stiffens at the mention of the cowardly light-lovers. With a deep growl rumbling through him, he looks to where the other Uruk-Hai is pointing. A slight grin of possible violence breaks across Garjin's face, displaying fully his mangled yellow teeth. The guard then raises a cruel black barbed mace up from his side. "We should be wary, I think they be watching us. Ska! I says we forget the wood and find them tree-huggers. Paleran turns back to Glynnis, and nods in affirmation. He waves Glewlwyd and Menelaina to follow his rear, then begins to move slowly northwards along the line of the forest in a crouch to avoid being seen. OOCGuardian> [Hooded_Maiden(#12200)] A chorus of strange bird calls and whoops scatter throughout the Wood as if the trees were coming alive. The air turns sweet with the tension of a moment, halted in frozen time. Small Deer> Menelaina follows after Paleran, whispering and murmuring to him some of the signals as she coruches low, her bow ready at her side. Small Deer> Paleran keeps his attention bent towards Menelaina briefly as she whispers, and continues his plight north. Small Deer> Paleran wades across the river, and continues northwards... OOCGuardian> Paleran comes up from along the rivers southerly flow... Small Deer> Paleran has left. OOCGuardian> Paleran has arrived. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Paleran comes up from along the rivers southerly flow... [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Paleran has arrived. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Squirming forward, the dull roar of the river's rapids in the distance partially covering the din of his clumsy movement, Logerht looks back and bares his yelowed teeth in a grin directed at the sentry. Reach down to his belt, the Orc carefully pulls an axe free from the loop at his belt, his blackened fist clutching the ebon handle. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Logerht pulls a cruel-looking goblin axe from a loop at his belt, the half-moon blade glinting almost hungrily. Small Deer> Caranwen readies her bow, and looks to Glynnis for approval to move forward. Small Deer> Glynnis glares at Caranwen. "I said up, now!" She points to the trees to emphasize. Small Deer> Menelaina wades across the river, and continues northwards... Small Deer> Menelaina has left. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Menelaina comes up from along the rivers southerly flow... [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Menelaina has arrived. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Paleran encroaches the area slowly along the western forest line. His body is in a crouched position, and not easily seen, as his elven cloak matches the foliage behind him. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Karaks rolls onto his side and draws his scimitar slowly. It is as if he hoping to be convered by the noises of the woods and the intensity of the light. Having it out he rolls back to his belly and starts bending his knees and backing up a bit on his claws until he is in crouching position. He shuffles low to the ground trying to catch up with Logerth. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Menelaina circles in slightly behind Paleran, her bow swinging with each step at her side as she sticks to the dense shrubs and trees that lot the area. She keeps low, padding silently through Paleran's wake. Small Deer> Caranwen jumps up into the trees quickly, and creeps northward on a sturdy branch, without so much a a rustle from the leaves below her. She looks silently northward from her perch. Small Deer> Glynnis hisses upwards, "Keep watch southward as well, in case this is but a diversion of the true attack." Small Deer> Caranwen nods, and looks all around the area... "Nothing." [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Paleran espies the situation from afar, his keen elven eyes scrutinizing the forms of the orcs travelling away from him. As soon as he feels he has seen enough, he lifts his sword up in the air and brandishes it in a backward motion for Menelaina, as if to retreat back. Small Deer> Glynnis sighs at the deer, and tries herding it towards the Lady. Small Deer> Caranwen whispers down, "There are still only 3 yrch, and nothing to the south." Small Deer> Glynnis nods again. Small Deer> Small Deer sniffs at Glynnis and moves with her, towards the Lady. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Menelaina does just that, pedalling back some and then turning fully, her head cocked and looking around watchfully. She attempts to stay quiet, some of the forest leaves betraying her wishes though. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Garjin walks slowly but without crouching, trusting his combat training to warn him of any danger. He flips back his grey cowled hood to widen his view and he eases himself from tree to tree towards the south. He doesn't speak, but his eyesscan the tree tops and undergrowth alike knowing well the tactics of the elves. His nostrils flare suddenly at the scent of the enemy. Garjin then whispers, "They be here, the elves." Small Deer> Glynnis nods. "Good. Stay with her. I cannot protect you both if you are separated. Stay close." She nocks an arrow to the bow, watching towards the north, with occasional glances behind her towards the south. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Paleran backpedals as well, keeping his eyes perched on the figures of the enemies. He waits a moment upon hearing the rustle of Menelaina behind him, readying himself to fight if spotted. Small Deer> Caranwen nods. "Should I come down?" [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Karaks stops in his tracks and sniffs at the air. His fat nostrils flair and swell at the intake of forest air. He seems to smell something over the stench of his own sweaty armoured body. He turns toward Garjin and, squinting, says, "Warts! I just started to smell young deer! It has to be just out of sight somewhere ahead!" [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Logerht crawls to a halt behind a large, golden tree and rests his hand against the rough bark as he peers around. With a sudden curse, he pulls his hand back with a jerk as if some hidden flame had burned him. The orc's lips pull back in a sneer of hatred. After a moment, he shakes it off and peers out from behind the tree, sniffing heavily at the spring-perfumed air. Snorting and snuffling, his noses tastes the scents carried to him by the soft wind. Curses, Logerht announces, "The sentry is right.. we are not alone." Small Deer> Menelaina comes wading across the river from the North... Small Deer> Menelaina has arrived. Small Deer> You pemit "As you enter this area, you notice a strange stillness to the air, a quietness, an enchantment. There is a large glow eminating from the base of a tree and you can see a figure there." to Menelaina. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Menelaina follows the river southwards... [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Menelaina has left. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Paleran, satisfied on not beind seen for the moment, begins to move slowly back once again until he disappears from sight. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Paleran Small Deer> Paleran comes wading across the river from the North... Small Deer> Paleran has arrived. [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Paleran follows the river southwards... [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Paleran has left. Small Deer> Menelaina comes in alongside Paleran, crouching low through the brush. Small Deer> Glynnis says, "Stay where you are." Small Deer> Paleran turns about and faces Glynnis after he feels he is out of sights range from the orcs. He stands and reports softly, but audible enough for her to hear, "Three yrch, Protector. Two seem to be well armed, and formidable." Small Deer> Glynnis looks expectantly at Paleran, after lowering her bow upon seeing it was him and not some yrch. "What news?" Small Deer> Glynnis nods, frowning. "They did not see you?" Small Deer> Caranwen reaches out and pets the deer gently. Small Deer> Paleran shakes his head, "Nay, they sensed us, however." and nods to the deer, "Her scent also drew them." Small Deer> Glynnis frowns. Small Deer> Paleran hastily gazes north repeatedly. Small Deer> Caranwen looks at the glow closely, examining it. Small Deer> Menelaina looks around nervously, "We need to take up positions." Small Deer> Gallia has arrived. Small Deer> Gallia goes Into Character. Small Deer> Small Deer stands and sniffs the air, her large brown eyes wide and frightened. Small Deer> Paleran glances towards Menelaina and points to the nearest tree. He speaks in a whisper, "Ascend that tree and give the call when they come close. Ready your bow and may Elbereth guide your arrows. We have to protect the Lady at all costs." [OOC Transmitter(#1019)] --> Paleran glances towards Menelaina and points to the nearest tree. He speaks in a whisper, "Ascend that tree and give the call when they come close. Ready your bow and may Elbereth guide your arrows. We have to protect the Lady at all costs." Glynnis nods. Glynnis says, "Alright." Glynnis says, "Paleran, you are with me. All others without sword take to the trees." Glynnis moves towards Galadriel, absently patting the deer on the head as she passes. Paleran shifts his gaze towards Glynnis and nods, moving towards her while keeping an eye pasted to the North. Caranwen nods, and slinks higher into the tree she's in. Small Deer whimpers and backs away towards the glow as she senses evil in the air. Paleran takes a deep breath, his eyes ablaze to prepare for the oncoming assault. Garjin comes wading across the river from the North... Garjin has arrived. Small Deer> You pemit "As you enter this area, you notice a strange stillness to the air, a quietness, an enchantment. There is a large glow eminating from the base of a tree and you can see a figure there." to Garjin. Butterflies> At the Naith, Garjin (to the west, near Nimrodel) is currently IC. Karaks comes wading across the river from the North... Karaks has arrived. Small Deer> You pemit "As you enter this area, you notice a strange stillness to the air, a quietness, an enchantment. There is a large glow eminating from the base of a tree and you can see a figure there." to Karaks. Butterflies> At the Naith, Karaks (to the west, near Nimrodel) is currently IC. Logerht comes wading across the river from the North... Logerht has arrived. Small Deer> You pemit "As you enter this area, you notice a strange stillness to the air, a quietness, an enchantment. There is a large glow eminating from the base of a tree and you can see a figure there." to Logerht. Butterflies> At the Naith, Logerht (to the west, near Nimrodel) is currently IC. Caranwen sees the yrch and nocks a bow, waiting... Karaks looks at the glow closely, examining it. Caranwen moves quietly to get a better aim from between the leaves. Small Deer whimpers and backs away towards the glow as she senses evil in the air. [Menelaina(#26757)] A woodpeck knocks almost frantically high above in the trees. Glynnis mutters to herself, "I can SEE..." Caranwen looks at the deer. Gallia pulls her cloak about her, and glances up into the branches of the tree she stands beneath. The shadows fairly well hide her from sight, but she crouches ready to leap into the tree if noticed. Paleran drops into a defensive stance upon hearing the noise. He stands about ten feet to the left of Glynnis, his sword held tightly in both hands. [<#11405>] Glynnis rises to one knee, arrow notched. She calls out, "<Sindarin> None can leave this place alive to take any news back to Moria!" Small Deer> [<#11405>] Glynnis rises to one knee, arrow notched. She calls out, "<Sindarin> None can leave this place alive to take any news back to Moria!" [Garjin(#23667)] Though sounds of rustling leaves and snapping of twigs follow with every step of the heavy Uruk-Hai, Garjin proceeds walking south, without crouching, trusting his training as battle is now eminent. Caranwen takes a silent breath, and follows the largest of the group with her eyes. Gallia silently unfastens the dagger at her belt, gripping it tightly beneath her cloak. [Combat(#13388)] Gallia wields Dagger. [Logerht(#22816)] Stalking from the trees and undergrowth from the north, Logerht marches south with the orc-party, squinting suspiciously up at the trees. A bird fluttering away suddenly causes the orc to jump, his red eyes tracking the birds movement with hatred. His hands clench and unclench around the haft of his axe, and he continues forward. Karaks follows a few paces behind Lorerth. He scans the area and his eyes turn to Garjin and flashes a questioned look. He seems to fear the battle ahead, but to run would surely lead to pain and suffering in the pits at home. He swallows and turns to continus forward. Soon, even his eyes can see the elf caravan and the cloaked figures walking there. [Paleran(#17565)] A bow sings its fateful tune as an arrow flies through the air towards the approaching uruks. Butterflies> At the Naith, Althea emerges from the eastward path. Butterflies> At the Naith, Althea heads down to the riverbank and starts wading across. Caranwen nocks an arrow, and aims at the largest of the group carefully from her tree branch. She follows him with her eye and her bow silently. Althea walks upstream along the river. Althea has arrived. Small Deer> You pemit "As you enter this area, you notice a strange stillness to the air, a quietness, an enchantment. There is a large glow eminating from the base of a tree and you can see a figure there." to Althea. Menelaina nocks an arrow from high above in the trees, aiming down steadily and waiting for a clear shot on one of the yrch. [Karaks(#27284)] The smaller orcs fear is suddenly pierced as is the skin of his arm. The arrow has flown true and straight. It misses the orc;s face bu less than a hand span and cuts across his shoulder drawing a thick line of dark black-red on his neck and shoulder. Butterflies> At the Naith, Aiona heads down to the riverbank and starts wading across. >From afar, Paleran didn't know what to say if he started questioning. :P Aiona walks upstream along the river. Aiona has arrived. Small Deer> You pemit "As you enter this area, you notice a strange stillness to the air, a quietness, an enchantment. There is a large glow eminating from the base of a tree and you can see a figure there." to Aiona. Aiona walks in and as her eyes widen at the events occuring she just stands there for a couple minutes frozen then manages to fumble her way behind some bushes. Caranwen aims carefully at the largest orc's chest, and releases the arrow with a sharp twang. She nocks another before her first even hits. Paleran squints his eyes as he followed the path of the arrow. He bends his concentration on that orc, intending to deal with it first. His legs take him closer to the forest line, keeping an eye on the entire group. Glynnis's head jerks around as she looses an arrow, it flying dangerously wide of its target. At the sight of the non-guard elves she lets out a silent groan to herself and motions towards the nearest tree frantically with one hand. [Garjin(#23667)] At the sound of the flying arrow whizzes past Garjin into the undergrowth nearby, the grey cloaked sentry turns to take cover behind a large tree. Well before his arrives, another arrow slices through the air and breaks through the links of his armor. With a howl of rage, Garjin raises his vicious barbed mace and races into the woods, seeking the archer with vengeance in mind. [<#22777>] From the shadows, Gallia starts in alarm when she sees Aiona and Althea walking unawares into the situation. Being the nearest elf to the new arrivals, she whispers "<Sindarin> This way!" harshly and leaps into the tree. Small Deer> [<#22777>] From the shadows, Gallia starts in alarm when she sees Aiona and Althea walking unawares into the situation. Being the nearest elf to the new arrivals, she whispers "<Sindarin> This way!" harshly and leaps into the tree. Althea strides in, her eyes on the Lady that rests by the tree. She freezes at the sight of the battles, then seeing Glynnis frantic movements drives for the safty of the trees Butterflies> At the Naith, Galadradir heads down to the riverbank and starts wading across. Galadradir walks upstream along the river. Galadradir has arrived. Small Deer> You pemit "As you enter this area, you notice a strange stillness to the air, a quietness, an enchantment. There is a large glow eminating from the base of a tree and you can see a figure there." to Galadradir. Caranwen climbs higher into her tree, then leaps across the clearing to the one which the Glow is below. Aiona seems kind stuck behind her scraggle of bush and shakily stands and swings herself up into a tree somehow. She gasps as Galadradir walks in. Logerht spits curses, his blazing eyes darting back and forth among the trees. Watching his companions struck at by elven-arrows, Logerht scowls and slashes needlessly at the nearby bushes with his axe, intent on defiling the forest. A glow catches his eyes, and the orc catches sight of the deer between the trees. Roaring suddenly, hungrily, Logerht charges forward at the animal, axe raised high. Caranwen has disconnected. [Combat(#13388)] Galadradir wields Longbow. Logerht looks at the glow closely, examining it. [Karaks(#27284)] As the rain of grey arrows increases around him, Karaks stands and holds his shield infront of his upper torso. He starts towards the slow, but something deep inside him turns his course and he breaks into a run at Glynnis. He spits on the ground and then bites his lip as if fighting the pain of the arrow's wound. [Menelaina(#26757)] High above in the trees, Menelaina lets her arrow fly loose, aiming at the charging Logerht, and attempting to lead him some with her aim. Glynnis spits a curse, turning back towards the fray as the yowling orc begins its rampage towards her charges. She raises the bow and lets loose a grey-fletched arrow. Althea presses herself to the branch she lies on, making herself a smaller target for any stray yrch arrows Paleran's eyes flare with abandon at the marauding orc, his concentration quickly bends. He waits until Garjin is within jumping distance, then leaps from his position, swinging his sword in a strong, wide arc against its shoulder. [Karaks(#27284)] The little Karaks run transforms into a hobble as another arrow impacts deep into the front of his leg and buries itself deep into the flesh there. More dark blood starts to flow as his speed decreases. Gallia's eyes widen in alarm as one of the foul creatures moves toward the glow. Restraining the urge to jump down and rush to stop the beast, she looks around frantically to see where the arrows are coming from which assail the intruder. Caranwen looks down swiftly to the orc near the glow. She nocks a bow and aims carefully. She shoots merely out of instinct. Althea peers down at the raging battle below, her face pale with worry that harm will come to the Lady Logerht howls in sudden pain, an arrow thudding into his mailed shoulder with an crunch. Scowling, the orc claws at the shaft of light wood, tearing the arrow free from his flesh. Ebon blood wells free from the wound, seeping down his chain armour. Logerht crouches low, just in time, as another, grey-flltched arrows flashes past overhead to impale itself in the turf. Cursing, the orc resumes his forward rush, bloodthirst bent at the deer. Galadradir quickly looks around and climbs a tree by Glynnis's quickly asking what he can do Small Deer inches away from the battle towards the glow, laying protectively and shivering as she sees the evil, disgusting Yrch. [Garjin(#23667)] The charging sentry, more intent now with dealing bloodshed than protecting his charges, races deeply into the forest, a hail of arrows beginning to fall around him. One vicious arrow fired from a maiden warrior, impacts his shield fully and pierces the metal fully. A trickle of black blood staining the grey weathered cloak as the wounded beast lets loose a battle cry from his raspy throat. His eyes spot an elven archer on the ground and Garjin raises his mace and engages battle. [<#11405>] Glynnis says in Sindarin, "Stay out of the way!" Small Deer> [<#11405>] Glynnis says in Sindarin, "Stay out of the way!" Caranwen shoots again, this time aiming at Loghert's face. Glynnis stands, dropping the bow and drawing her sword as the charging yrch comes much too close for arrow use. Galadradir drops out of the tree and runs to a bush sliding behind it Caranwen is almost on top of Garjin now, scuttling about in the branches. She takes a deep breath and aims carefully, shooting at Garjin's chest, with a silent war-cry blazing in her blue-green eyes. [<#27284>] Karaks reaches down with a claw and snaps off the shaft of the arrow just above the skin. The pain seems to well up inside him as he slows and coughs up some yellow liquid. Hefting his shield again, his eyes widen upon feeling that arrow after arrow is impacting it and driving hard into the metal. Now one clangs off his helm not far from his left eye and he roars, "<UNINTELLIGIBLE SPEECH>" Small Deer> [<#27284>] Karaks reaches down with a claw and snaps off the shaft of the arrow just above the skin. The pain seems to well up inside him as he slows and coughs up some yellow liquid. Hefting his shield again, his eyes widen upon feeling that arrow after arrow is impacting it and driving hard into the metal. Now one clangs off his helm not far from his left eye and he roars, "<UNINTELLIGIBLE SPEECH>" You remit, "The air inside the area begins to grow hot and humid as many pairs of lungs are using up the oxygen in one place. It grows loud and unorganized as arrows fly all around and swords clang and clash...the trees stand and watch the battle silently, frowning and washing the air with their ancient branches." in Union of the Silverlode and Nimrodel(#8389Rano) Althea sits up suddenly, a determind look in her eyes as she sees the foul beast rushing towards her Lady [<#11405>] Glynnis readies her sword, eyeing her opponent as she barks out, "<Sindarin> Hold your fire! You may hit one of us! Wait until your shot is clear before you loose your arrows! Those of you without arms, stay back!" Small Deer> [<#11405>] Glynnis readies her sword, eyeing her opponent as she barks out, "<Sindarin> Hold your fire! You may hit one of us! Wait until your shot is clear before you loose your arrows! Those of you without arms, stay back!" Garjin races towards the mail archer, as the target's arrow drives deep into the flesh of his thigh. Garjin stumbles slightly as yet another arrow from overhead is fired straight down into the dirt at Garjin's feet. The cloaked guard manages to keep his feet and is on the archer with a wide swing if his black mace. [Menelaina(#26757)] In the trees above, Menelaina watches her arrow hit true, but frowns when it fails to stop the charging Loghert. She quickly fumbles for her quiver and draws out another arrow, speeednocks it, and draws back her bowstring. However after Glynnis barks some orders, she pauses and waits. Logerht slows his rush as he approaches the tiny deer, glancing cautiously at the glow, but unable to fathom it's purpose. He holds his shield on high to ward off elven arrows, and is rewarded with a clanging ring as a steel-tipped shaft glances off the iron to fall twisted into the brush. Logerht crouches low as he stalks forward and hefts his axe, muttering under his breath, "Here, my fawn... sweet.. sweet venison." Lunging, the orc swings his axe in a wide overhand arc at the poor animal. Caranwen roars at Loghert and shoots at him repeatedly. Glynnis shouts, swinging her sword in a wide arc to block Logerht's blow, eyes blazing. [<#11405>] Glynnis says in Sindarin, "STOP SHOOING you're going to hit the fawn!" Small Deer> [<#11405>] Glynnis says in Sindarin, "STOP SHOOING you're going to hit the fawn!" Galadradir looks around quickly for a target he knows he can hit clearly then reaches back grabbing a arrow and putting it to string sees Loghert and aimes his bow waiting for the right moment to shoot [Paleran(#17565)] Luck follows Paleran as the orc was caught off guard by the arrow distracted his fury. He manages to swing his body to the side in time to only receive a scrape of his shoulder by the mace, producing a red welt immediately. Given his adrelin surging through his body, the strike is not even felt, and he releases his fury in a wild swing of his sword against the orc's back. Caranwen scuttles around in the trees untill she is literally straight above Loghert. She hisses, "Leave our woods"!!" quietly, and shoots directly downward into his shoulder. Small Deer screams suddenly as she sees a tall, strange looking ....horrible smelling large thing over her with a glittering blade. Being young, and being a very small deer...her first instincts of course, in those few first seconds is to bolt, but she is so scared and tired from being out in the open all this time that she only manages to roll over a bit, just out of the way of the blade...as it crashes down towards her. [Gallia(#22777)] Watching Althea sit up on her Branch, Gallia reaches out and touches the Minister's shoulder to catch her attention. She grips her dagger firmly in her right hand, and looks back down toward the deer and the creature attempting to attack it. Galadradir fires his bow his aim right for Loghert's chest <Lorien> Caranwen says, "In IC, if this was going on, then my char would have don that." [Logerht(#22816)] Bright sparks scatter from the steel as Glynnis' blade deflects Logerht's axe away from the deer. Falling back in surprise, the orc scowls menacingly, his shield now held before him. A sudden arrow flashes from the trees and pierces Logerht's back, a shallow wound. The orc snarls in rage and ignores the arrow, lunging forward at Glynnis, axe swinging in a horizontal arc, "Get out of my way!" Karaks raises his scimitar well above his twisted head. The blade seems to hang in the air as arrows fly past it and him. Thes suddenly he drives it down hard twisting it toward Glynnis. The cold metal drives whistling through the air towards her cloaked side. Althea looks over at Gallias touch and nods at the silent messege. She grips her staff and points to where the Lady lies Paleran pages (to Karaks, Glynnis, and Hooded_Maiden): Garjin and I are fighting. both Karaks and Lughert (whatever his naeme is. ;) are fighting Glynnis. Done. :) [Garjin(#23667)] With a quick spin, Garjin ducks to bring his heavy mace crashing down towards the knee of his opponent, the male human archer, as a sword blade comes down hard against his wounded shoulder. Pain lances across Garjin's face and a sneer follows soon afterwards as the blade is stopped by the metal links beneath the cloak. Caranwen sees she is running low on arrows, and saves them until she has a clearer shot. Meanwhile, in pure fury, she dangles down a leg from her perch and kicks Garjin in the back of the head. Galadradir watches to see if his shot hit Loghert in the chest and to at same time reaches fro another arrow Glynnis hisses, metal sawing against metal as the orc slides his axe down the length of her blade, keeping her from parrying the sword thrust that clangs against her armor with an ear-splitting noise. Caranwen continues kicking at the orc's head. Karaks chuckles as he is close to the elven warrior and the arrows die down. PRotected by the very combat he is in, the warroir sweeps to the left trying to get Glynnis between him and Garjin. Paleran has not enough time to avert the orc's blow and receives the full force of the mace upon his knee. Paleran's leg buckles underneath him, and he falls to the ground in a slump. With a concerted effort, he raises back up to his good leg, and blindly sweeps his longsword in a low arc towards Garjin's lower legs. Althea climbs quietly down the tree still griping her staff. Once on the ground she pauses for a second to watch the battle then, attemping to skirt the main part of the fighting makes her way toward the Lady [Combat(#13388)] Althea wields Staff. [Logerht(#22816)] An arrow grazes past Logerht's chest, the chain mail clinking but the steel-tip not touching flesh. The uruk-hai growls and surges forward at Glynnis, heaving at her with his bulk. Simulatneously, he swings wide with his axe, the gleaming blade descending toward her chest. [Menelaina(#26757)] High above in the trees, Menelaina bites her lip in frustration and tucks her arrow back in the quiver and drops down to the next lower branch. She keeps moving down until she hits the ground, landing with a soft thud behind the tall tree she was in. Gallia follows Althea down the tree, and stays only inches behind her as she makes her eay toward the glow. Glynnis' eyes dart back and forth as she is slowly outflanked, narrowing them dangerously. She blinks as the arrow that narrowly misses Logerht bounces off her mailed arm and flashes a glare up towards the trees. She raises her sword to fend off this attack, going to her knees to thwart the aim of the orc. Small Deer slinks away from the fighting, and gets trapped in some brambles around her hoof. She squirms and whimpers... You remit, "The archers in the trees seem to have stopped firing, for fear of hitting the two battling elves on the ground. The tension is high, and the Woods strangely quiet except for the grunting and swinging of the beastly Yrch." in Union of the Silverlode and Nimrodel(#8389Rano) Karaks crosses the few feet to Glynnis's back. He grunts hefting his arrow laiden shield up to his chest, and starts to drive the wide point of his scimitar towards the back of Glynnis's neck. His eyes widen at the thought of seeing the elf's head rolling bloody on the ground. Aiona watches the battle anxiousely but tries ot keep a calm face and has forced her self to stop shaking. [Garjin(#23667)] Garjin gets a bloodthirsty look in his eyes as the barbs from his black mace hit home. Seeing the archers swing before it is complete, Garjin leaps up into the air and raises his feet to clear the blade, but receives a heavy kick to the head at the apex of his leap. Garjin roars with rage as the tree-men seem all about him. He stumbles as he hits the ground but as he tries to get back up he looks into the low branches to see the culprit. Gallia keeps her eyes on the deer, and seeing its distress she makes a rush towards it. Mindless of her own danger, she guards the helpless creature with her own body as she hacks at the brambles with her dagger. Logerht leers down at Glynnis and pulls his axe back suddenly. Grinning ferally to Skarak, the orc pushes his way past the struggling pair, orc and elf and rushes at the deer again. Somehow though, a root almost appearing from nowhere snags at the orc's boot and with a roar, the uruk-hai topples forward to the ground. As he falls, he lashes with his axe in a vain blow of anger at the deer. Althea's face is pale with fear but she manages to make her way to the side of the enchated Lady where she stands gripping her staff, ready to defend her Lady with her life Aiona looks at the large Garjin roaring and she looks anxiousely at the other elves. Galadradir watches from behind his bush and arrow nocked looking quietly around for something Gallia has connected. Glynnis whirls, spinning on her knees as Logerht leaves his companion to his fate. She snarls and with one scythe of her blade takes Karaks legs off at the knee. Small Deer looks up at gallia and seems to be comforted, yet still frantically pulling at the brambles. Paleran manages to struggle to his feet, thanks to Caranwen for distracting the orc. He wobbles on his feet, the hurt leg still keeping him from full balance. He shakes his head slightly to clear it, and lifts his sword above his head. He cries aloud, as he swings the blade upon Garjin's head. [Garjin(#23667)] As Garjin gets back up, he launches himself towards the elf in the branches in an attempt to grab it's skinny ankle to yank it from the trees onto the archer turned swordsman whose knee was crushed. [<#15659>] Althea look about her seeing Gallia stuggle with the touch brambles "<Sindarin> Do you need help Gallia! Small Deer> [<#15659>] Althea look about her seeing Gallia stuggle with the touch brambles "<Sindarin> Do you need help Gallia! Menelaina peeks out from behind her tree and crouches some, levelling her bow at Logerht. She closes one eye and quickly grabs an arrow from her quiver, nocks it and takes aim. When she's sure she won't hit the deer with her shot, she lets the arrow fly toward him with a *twang* from her bow. You remit, "A strange stench fills the air as one of the Yrch takes a mortal wound to the legs. Paleran and Glynnis both get sprayed with a foul wash of evil yrchish blood...staining their precious cloaks and mail." in Union of the Silverlode and Nimrodel(#8389Rano) Caranwen is grabbed by the ankleand winces at the Orc's cold grip. Still, she swings at him with doubled fists and fists as he pulls her down. [<#22777>] Gallia doesn't even look up at Althea's question, but shouts, "<Sindarin> Nay, Minister. I have it!" just as she cuts the brambles free from the deer and wraps her arms around it. She looks around frantically to see if there is a way of escape so she can get the deer to safety. Small Deer> [<#22777>] Gallia doesn't even look up at Althea's question, but shouts, "<Sindarin> Nay, Minister. I have it!" just as she cuts the brambles free from the deer and wraps her arms around it. She looks around frantically to see if there is a way of escape so she can get the deer to safety. Logerht groans as he hits the ground with a thump, metal jangling. Battle-influenced relflexes though, allow him to quickly scramble to his feet, eyes blazing with anger. Logerht scowls at Gallia between him and the strange deer and steps forward aggressivley, his axe swinging wide in an overhand arc at the elf. Glynnis coughs and spits, wiping at her face with one corner of her cloak. She stands, peering through a mask of blood to try and find one of the other yrch. [Karaks(#27284)] Suprised at the spinning elf, Karaks drives his blade down missing her completely. As his blade impacts the ground just to the side of Glynnis, he grimaces as his lower legs ars hacked off completely leaving him to fall on the broken ends. The wretched orc's expression turns from victory to one of complete horror as his world greys and then fades from his dark eyes. Light driving into his open eyes Aiona gasps as Car falls. Glynnis hisses in frustration, looking from one group of elf and orc to the other. She decides to make for the pair nearer her, the one with the deer, sword at the ready. Small Deer squeals as she sees Logerht coming towards Gallia, she grows more frantic and shuffles out of the way. Althea screams as she sees Logerht swing his axe at Gallia, and fumbles for her dagger that she keeps at her waist, her only onter weapons besides her staff. Grabing it from its shelth she throws it at Logerht [Gallia(#22777)] With a shriek, Gallia covers as much of the deer as she can with her body and attempts to help it move out of the path of the foul axe-blade. Small Deer manages to struggle out from under Gallia, and away to the side of the fray, shaking miserably. [Garjin(#23667)] Garjin pulls hard at the elves ankle and yanks down hard. The force is towards the archer that had attacked him with a sword. Fangs barred, Garjin swings his mace into the tangled duo to try and kill at least on of them. Glynnis swings, kicking at the back of Log's knee with one foot, trying to knock him off-balance. Caranwen lets out a mangled cry as the mace strikes her in the back. Galadradir finally seeing Loghert moving to the deer and Gallia aims right between Loghert's eyes and with a *thiwp* fires his bow hoping the arrow hits its mark [Logerht(#22816)] The path of Logerht's axe wavers suddenly, as a crunch of metal on bone sounds from behind the uruk-hai. Turning, Logerht reveals Menelaina's arrow, nearly flething-deep embedding an inch from his spine. Blood pours from the wound and drips to the ground in ebony droplets like obsidian jewels. A dagger flashes past, carving a thin line across Logerht's face, but the orc stands firm a few moments longer. Blood pouring from his lips, Logerht stumbles towards Glynnes, axe still clutched tight. Paleran flails backwards as Caranwen is thrusted onto him, plummeting them both to the ground. He tries to roll with her to avoid the orc's swing, but fails to do so quick enough as he feels the force of the mace through her body onto his. He sweeps his unnhurt leg towards the orc, in an attempt to trip the orc up. Caranwen's body still pins him to the ground, having not enough strength now to roll her aside. Gallia turns with her dagger in hand, to face her attacker just in time to see him stagger and turn. Her most immediate danger thwarted, she rushes after the deer in an attempt to see to its safety. Glynnis hisses as a grey-fletched arrow catches her right in the shoulder, actually penetrating the hole beneath her armpit as her sword, raised to combat the dying uruk's final charge, falls to the ground from nerveless fingers. Aiona looks at the area of blood and terror and shiuvers once watching Galad closely biting her lip against screaming. [<#23667>] Garjin is suddenly struck near his leg as the jarring blow causes him to lose his balance and fall to the ground again. Screaming in rage, the huge Uruk-Hai bellows forth."<UNINTELLIGIBLE SPEECH>" Small Deer> [<#23667>] Garjin is suddenly struck near his leg as the jarring blow causes him to lose his balance and fall to the ground again. Screaming in rage, the huge Uruk-Hai bellows forth."<UNINTELLIGIBLE SPEECH>" Caranwen stands, staggering, her spine crooked and blood pouring from a gash in her back. She weakly makes her way to thetree where her bow rests. Althea gasps in relife as she sees Gallia is unhurt then gasps again this time in shock and horror as Glynnis's sword tumbles from her hand. Garjin pages (to Karaks, Hooded_Maiden, Aiona, and Paleran): One more blow to Pal/Car then I will flee. While fleeing I will bash Aiona from the tree, grab her and flee. Aiona sits on a low branch watching the bloodey battle she is near where Pal and car fell and almost DIRECTLY behind Garjin. Logerht attempts to howl, but all the sound that escapes his lips is a gurgle of rage, bubbles of blood pouring forth. He stumbles toward Glynnis, eyes gleaming madly, and raises his axe. He pauses a moment to enjoy what might have been a triumph... And then topples backward, the intended blow never falling. As he hits the ground, Logerht thrashes, his axe falling free from his grip. As he claws at the ground, the light fades from Logerht's eyes. And he is still. Caranwen lifts her bow and weakly nocks a bow. She takes wobbling aim, and fires a shaky arrow at Garjin. It misses by yards, and she tumbles to the ground, bow still in her hands. Menelaina nocks another arrow calmly scanning the remaining yrch that stagger around. She nibbles on her lip as she bides her time for a good shot on Logerht, then shakes her head as the uruk falls to the ground. She switches her aim and looks around, spotting Garjin and with the twang of her bow lets the arrow sail toward him. Glynnis stands there, breathing short, arm still up in the air, arrow protruding from beneath it. She half-kneels, picks up her sword, and walks slowly over to the fallen uruk, stabbing him in the chest to make sure the job is finished. Gallia trips and falls down as her shoulder is pierced by Caranwen's stray arrow. <Lorien> Gallia blushes. "Last time I saw yrch, I puked. At least this time I can get hurt!" [Paleran(#17565)] With a final burst of energy, Paleran lifts himself to a seated position. He turns to see that his competitor has been thrown to the ground. Pushing all reaason aside, Paleran begins to throws himself onto the Garjin's sprawled body, attempting to pin him. He is soon thwarted by Menelaina's arrow, as it lodges in his back. He slumps beside Garjin, striving for breath. Galadradir trrows down his bow and screaming maddly rushes into the fray and grabbing Paleran's sword looks for a target [Garjin(#23667)] The warrior Uruk quickly rolls back to his feet to meet the onslaught, when the sounds of battle around him fade into silence. Quickly glancing about him he sees that his charges, the woodgatherers, have both fallen prey to the predatory elves. Without further thought, Garjin races past the two jumbled elves, swinging one final time trying to deliver the killing blow to the archer he just pulled from the tree. Garjin does not even pause to look and see if the blow connected, but he races back towards Moria, intent on escape now. Althea gives a sharp cry as she sees Gallia fall with an arrow in her shoulder, but does not leave her post besides Galadriel Caranwen winces as Garjin's blow hits her in the arm, and tumbles to the ground. She breathes spontaneously and shallowly, but breathes all the same. Gallia sits up and, clenching her teeth, she regards the arrow stuck in her shoulder. She manages to regain her feet and make her way towards a tree which may offer some protection. Glynnis walks slowly towards Paleran et al, and brings her sword up again, walking up behind Galadradir. With an almost indifferent motion, she brings the pommel of her sword down hard against the base of Galadradir's neck. [Garjin(#23667)] as the heavy cloaked uruk races towards Moria, he spots yet another of the filthy elves hiding in the trees. A grin slides across his face as he leaps to swing and knock the elf from the tree. Logerht wades across the river, and continues northwards... Logerht has left. Caranwen looks at the fleeing Garjin. Her eyes are glassy, yet contain a few last sparks of the fire they contained before. The spark dies, and her head slumps. Her breathing is even shallower and she barely clings to life. Glynnis turns, looking for the deer. "Gallia?" Aiona screams a blood curdling cry as the mace grazes her amrs and leaves it in a funny position. She lands face down DIRECTLY in front of Garjin. her leg is twisted in a funny position. She remains unconciouse for a few seconds then screams and cris not able to use her arm because it was grazed by the mace she struggle to move crying at every tiny movment and screaming since she's RIGHT at the orcs feet she screams loudly. [Galadradir(#9021)] As the sword hits Galadradir in the back of the neck he falls to the ground and with a low moan smacking the ground face first as blood slowly ooses from his head [Gallia(#22777)] Hearing her name called, Gallia looks around to see who it is that calls her. "Yes?" she answers, still distracted by the pain in her shoulder. Paleran is sprawled out on the ground, an arrow sticking out of his back. He moans weakly, twitching in pain. Aiona still struggles to move waiting to see what the orc will do to her cause she can't get away. She is screaming and crying at the top of her young lungs. Althea watchs in horror as she sees the young healer tumble to the ground wounded by both the mace and the fall "Glynnis! Help her [Garjin(#23667)] With a snarl of bloodthirsty rage, Garjin watches the elf fall from the tree and crash into the dirt. Seeing that some trophy must be obtained to absolve him from the deaths of his charges, he quickly thinks of the broken elf and with a quick glimpse behind to see if he is being persued, Garjin brings his armored fist down hard into the cheek of the screaming elf to silence her. Then he scoops her up with one arm and races off into the forest. You remit, "The elves are busy attending to the other wounded elves and cleaning up the bloodied Yrch while the older and more experienced Yrch seems to have been able to flee....or maybe not." in Union of the Silverlode and Nimrodel(#8389Rano) You remit, "The kidnapping remains unnoticed for the time being, only for a few minutes while the choas insues." in Union of the Silverlode and Nimrodel(#8389Rano) Galadradir lays spraled out on the ground blood oosing from his head Caranwen watches Garjin escape with Aiona. "You--- wilwill--pay,," she gasps, and her head drops. Her breathing becomes even shallower. Aiona tries to scream with her smashed cheek managing to still scream fairly loudly but her voise is also going horse. Glynnis looks about tiredly. "Where are the healers?" Garjin wades across the river, and continues northwards... Garjin has left. Aiona screams and a few scattered "HELPS!!!!" are eligable but her cheek is bleeding and her voice going horse. Aiona wades across the river, and continues northwards... Aiona has left. Althea looks around despertasly looking for a unwounded guard but seeing none attempts to chase after the fleeing yrch and the elf Gallia leans her uninjured shoulder against a tree, having yet to determine where she heard her name called from. She sits down to wait patiently while the more severely injured elves are attended to. Blood trickles slowly down her arm, mostly blocked by the arrow that still protrudes from her wound.
Menelaina lets fly a furtile arrow after the retreating Garjin, but it sinks harmlessly into a tree near him. She frowns, frustrated and then steps out quickly to see who's hurt. Althea wades across the river, and continues northwards... Althea has left.
