Terridan, Aldarwen and Rayakalm at Alqualonde

Middle-earth time is:
Around Dawn on Highday, Day 1 of October.

Real time is:
16:06:27 MST on Fri Oct 29 1999.

Alqualonde
You are standing by a small lake whose water is blue and clear as crystal. The surface sparkles like sapphire where the sun shines on it near the center. White swans sail gracefully over the surface of the ailin, as it is called in elvish. It is for them that Galadriel christened this place Alqualonde, Swan-Haven, a memento of her days in Valinor when the world was young and untainted. The lake is surrounded by leafless trees with a snowy white bark. There is a feeling of utter peace and tranquility here, almost as if time were standing completely still. The fragrant scent of exotic flowers fills you with cheer as you rest here. Even now, just inside your reach, a single water lily floats idly by...

Terridan is sitting off to one side of the lake, looking out across the waters. One could almost say that the Warden has not moved in days, so unmoving is he.

From the path to the Southwest, two elves appear walking calmly under the light of the stars. They approach the lake at a slow pace, speaking to themselves in a soft voice, even lower than the soft sound of the night breeze. As they get near the lake, the presence of Terridan makes them silent.

Terridan smiles softly as the two grow near the lake, and he turns to face them slowly, "Mae govannen, mellyn... come, join me if you would..."

Aldarwen smiles back to Terridan and says, "Mae Govannen, mellon, how are you faring? I hope your wounds have now healed..." She stares for a brief moment at the lake and then says, "Yes, why not? And sits herself just beside the Warden.

Rayakalm nods to the Warden and greets him too. He sits down and listens to the conversation.

Terridan smiles over towards Aldarwen, "Aye... they have healed... though a bit stiff still..." he looks out across the waters, and leans back, "How have you been of late, mellyn?"

Aldarwen shrugs slightly, "Nothing changed after our last meeting, mellon, still worried about the same problems" The face of the maiden gets a bit darker as she stares far into the horizon and keeps silent.

Terridan looks back over towards Aldarwen, and places a hand onto her shoulder, "Mellon..." he smiles softly, "Remember, I am always here to lend an ear... and a shoulder if necessary."

Aldarwen smiles broad as Terridan conforts her, then says in a soft voice, "Thank you, mellon. I don't know what will happen in the future, but it's still nice to have friends near." She looks at him for a moment and says, "And you? Any news from the Protector?"

Terridan shakes his head, then sighs, "I have not been able to locate her..."

Rayakalm looks worried now to, "Has she been lost after the fight?"

Aldarwen raises an eyebrow in surprise and stares towards Terridan waiting for his answer.

Terridan shakes his head, "Nay... but in a different type of conflict... she was upset over the actions of Saren..."

Rayakalm looks a bit puzzled. "Elder Knight Saren? Do tell the story." He presses.

Aldarwen turns to look toward Rayakalm with broad open eyes and hard gaze, "He told us the other day, don't you remember, cousin?" She turns again toward Terridan and says, "But, has anything happened yet?"

Terridan looks up at them both, then shakes his head, "Nay... we cannot find her."

Aldarwen blinks for a moment, digesting the news, then asks in a fumbling voice, "Not... Not even Kathalis knows where she is?"

Rayakalm's voice becomes lower. "What is being done to find her? Is someone searching?" He asks the guard.

Terridan sighs, "She will be found when she wants to be..."

Aldarwen nods silently to Terridan's words and then her gaze seems to be caught by the beauty of the lake. After some more moments of staring at it she asks, almost to herself, "What would the sea look like?"

Terridan looks over towards Aldarwen, then smiles, "I don't know... but I've heard there's endless water... that you can't see the end too..."

Rayakalm just stares at the small waves as if in a dream and says nothing.

Aldarwen sighs soundly and adds, "Yes, and the song of the sea is such one that can never be forgotten. An eternal call to sail through it..." She pauses, her eyes still lingering on the waters, "I still wonder so much about it..."

Terridan nods slowly, "As do I... as do I..." he looks over towards Aldarwen, "Maybe one day... we will sail it together?"

Aldarwen blushes a bit and looks toward Terridan, with shinning eyes, "Together? Yes, it might be." She takes a deep breath and says, "Although I still feel I have so many things to do here."

Terridan nods, "As do I... I am not ready to make that last voyage."

Aldarwen nods slowly and her eyes are diverted to the shinning stars. She stays silent for another moment and then adds, "I also wonder when my moment shall come. I love this land so much, that I can't think of myself deciding to part from it".

Rayakalm stirs as if he wakes from a dream. "Indeed. It would be a shame to leave this land behind."

Putting both her hands in front of her, Aldawen touches the fingertips of each hand and sighs again, this time she remains silent.

Terridan nods, "Aye... that it would..." he looks down, placing his hand on the earth, "I have lived my whole life in this place, the thought of leaving it seems impossible."

Aldarwen presses her lips and says, "And, however, there have been so many before us, that have lived here and the left it..."

Rayakalm nods slowly. "The time comes for us all, I imagine."

A squirrel comes running from the woods, jumps over Aldarwen and lands on Terridan's hurt leg. Then it runs off and disappears.

Aldarwen gets shaked by the squirrel jump and her face colours up. She tries to follow the little animal's trail as it disappears into the trees, but soon she gives up.

The sun rises over the trees, flashing on the golden leaves of the Mellyrn.

Rayakalm's face brightens as he remembers the music of a flowing river. "Please do, cousin." He says to the Master Bard.

Still standing some steps nearer the lake, the Bard receives the first rays of the morning with a smile and take out her small green and white harp. Her fingers start moving around it for some moments, and she manages to tune it up in a quick way. The light that has started appearing in the sky suddenly seems to be coming from the Master's hands. She lets her fingers dance around the strings freely, until the melody starts to form from the sounds, as if with it's own desire.

Rayakalm sits back and listens to the music. His eyes are fixed on the movement of Aldarwen's hands.

Aldarwen goes on playing, the sound of the harp imitating those of the waking birds in the morning, growing slowly in volume, and flying away suddenly as the sun keeps rising. She starts to sing, although without words, just some syllables to accompany the music, to intertwine with the melody and create an image full of singing birds.

Terridan listens as well, his eyes closing as he lets Aldarwen's song flow over him. A wistful smile comes to his face, and he turns to regard the bard with a fond smile.

Slowly, the syllables in Aldarwen's mouth start to mingle into words, and the song she is singing accompanies the melody, following the quick rythm:

When I was young, I had a friend
Who sang and run and with me played
We spent our days in unending game
From day to night then day again.

The song goes on, as Aldarwen plays, the images of the song appearing before her: the running children, the games of youth, their happiness and inocence. Her voice grows in volume as she keeps singing:

His company was full of bliss
His songs and pretty tales I miss
them most. He went away years ago
To distant lands I may not go...

Suddenly the eyes of the player are diverted to the sky, to the light that comes from the sun, now upper and more shining. She takes a deep breath before going on with the song:

But still I do remember him
His memories are still with me
And I do know we'll meet again
When the time comes, before the end.

Terridan continues to listen, and as the song ends, he looks up towards Aldarwen, and smiles widely, "T'was beautiful mellon... like all your songs..."

The eyes of the player stayed closed for a while, as her fingers go on playing to the melody, fading out slowly. As Terridan praises her, she smiles broad, blushes just so slightly and says, "Thank you, mellon, thank you so very much".

Rayakalm smiles also, "I must agree with Terridan." He says. "Though I have not heard as many of your songs", he adds, looking to Aldarwen.

Terridan nods slowly, "Thank you for the music... I get to hear so little of it of late..."

Aldarwen bows her head toward Rayakalm and says, "Thank you, cousin." She sighs and then shivers slightly... After a moment she says, "I have an odd sensation"

Rayakalm looks at the bard in wonder. "Go on," he says.

Terridan raises an eyebrow, moving to lean into her, "what is wrong, mellon?"

Aldarwen shivers again. And then says. "It's not really wrong". She takes one of Terridan's arms and tries to smile, but closes her eyes at the same time, "It has to do with my brother".

Terridan nods slowly, taking Aldarwen's arm in kind, and nodding, a reassuring smile coming to his face, "Are you alright, mellon?"

Aldarwen breathes in deeply, resting almost all her weight in the Warden's arm. "I think I am. It's just..." As she breathes in again, her expression returns to her usual one. She breathes in again another time and regains control of her body, "It's passed, it was just an odd feeling."

Terridan nods again, "What does it feel like, mellon?"

Aldarwen smiles broader now, as she looks directly into Terridan's face, "I don't know, I think that it may be that he's thinking on me". She giggles merrily as the sun bathes her warmly.

Terridan smiles, nodding his head once as he too looks up at the sun, "I think that is probably it mellon... I'm sure he thinks and cares for you a great deal."

Aldarwen nods eagerly and adds, "As I do for him". She sighs softly and says, "Any way, mellon, I think I should better go and have some rest..."

Terridan nods slowly, then releases Aldarwen's arm, "I shall see you later then, mellon... thank you for the visit."

Aldarwen
You look upon a slender elf maiden, her eyes are dark green and if you look deep in them you can see the leaves of the trees of her childhood still quivering. She has long hair and the color is a bit greenish, like the grass in automn.
She's wearing a long green dress, that shimmers with different shades of green as the light reflects on it. A thin silver belt tightens around her waist. Hanging from the belt at her waist there is a small leather bag, that seems filled with many things of different shapes.  She wears no necklace or rings of any kind.

Back

Terridan
You see a youthful elven man who stands 6'10", his athletic build moves quietlyand fluidly, making only the slightest of sounds. His deep brown hair is the color of tempered gold and flows loosely around his shoulders, framing his sharp features. On his left ear is a silver earcuff. Around his neck is a silver chain, a slender rope that looks much like liquid silver in the way it moves, hanging from it is a small red stone which shines and glitters, An elven T is carved on to the surface and the rest is polished to a smooth glint. His deep blue eyes have a look of warmth and dedication to them. Drapped over his shoulders is a large grey cloak, a black cowl resting above it. Along the inner line of the cowl, near where it meets the cloak, you can see a thin silver cord. The cloak itself is fastened by a crystal starburstwith a silver cresent set in the center, the symbolof house Dinlom. Slung across his back is an finely crafted elven longbow, and a quiver full of arrows is strapped onto his right hip. Beneath the cloak you can see his torso is covered by coat of shining ringmail, and on his left hip, a finely crafted longsword rests. His forearms are covered by a pair of leather wrist-guards, that extend halfway down his fingers, allowing him a better grip. His legs are covered by a pair of brown leggings, and on the belt there is a heavily padded satchel. On his feet are boots fashioned from a dark brown leather.

Back

Rayakalm
You see a tall and slender Elf. Dreamy dark eyes look out of a pale friendly face. Dark also is the hair that flows down his back. He wears a shirt of the purest green silk, soft even to the eyes. Light and shade move over it in an undulating motion; it seems of air, clinging to him like a whisper. The shirt is tucked with a certain flare under an intricately braided belt of leather. Well fitted pants stretch over his legs, sheathing them in a warm almond color.
