Field Hospital
You are in a small clearing cut into the thickets. All about you, the bushes and trees grow thick and unwavering, blocking out most of the sunlight and dimming the atmosphere. Dispite the lack of sunlight or moonlight, the clearing gives of a calm, quiet, secure feeling. Here is where the Cuigrithweg have made their Field Hospital. Several woven mats are laid about on the ground in neat rows and a pair of small chests rest at the north side of the Hospital. High above the mats, a large tarp is strung to provide some shelter on the off chance that it should rain. On the south side of the clearing, a small stream runs by the Hospital. It also serves as the only entrance and exit.

The sound of shaking leaves comes from the thickets, just before the clocked figure of Aldarwen appears walking quickly into the clearing. As she arrives, she looks around and smiles towards Terridan, approaching him in her rapid pace.

Terridan is resting quietly on the cot, his eyes closed. As Aldarwen approaches, he opens his eyes, and turns to face her slowly. Much color has returned to him, and he breathes easier than when he first came to this place.

Aldarwen sits down by Terridan and opens her bag, out of it come: a clay jar, a pair of brown cookies, a pair of cups and a bunch of flowers. While she takes all this out she speaks softly to the Banneret, "Good evening, mellon, how are you doing now? I hope that you have rested some and I expect you to be hungry... I've brought you some food and drink, prepared specially by our healers for the guards wounded in fight".

Terridan smiles softly from where he lays, "I am doing well, mellon... aye I have rested a great deal..." at the mention of food, his eyes brighten, "By any chance would there be any wine there?"

Aldarwen takes one of the two cookies and gives it to Terridan, as she does so, she says, "It's soft and it's still warm, I hope you like it". She then takes the jar and pours some liquid into one of the cups, smiling broadly she speaks again to the guard, "Indeed, I've brought you a jar of miruvor that Siniathweg sent specially for you, it seems he was very worried when he heard the news".

"Gets a little beat up and all of sudden he thinks he gets wine served to him in bed," Talia remarks teasingly as she appears from the thickets and deftly hopsacross the stream, her mail and weapons jingling as she lands. Coming to Terridan's bedside, she stops and the humor drains from her face as she surveys her cousin, then seeks to meet his eyes, her own sad.

Terridan smiles widely, then sits up a bit, taking the cookie and cup with a smile, "He was was he?" as he is about to drink he hears Talia's voice, and he looks up, smiling brightly, "Cousin... it is good to see you," he winks, "And since I cannot seem to leave this bed, I need to get served somehow? Now don't I?" even in this state, Terridan still retains his humor. As he sees Talia's face, he sighs, and looks down a little before meeting her eyes, "I did fail though... to see the second one coming..."

Looking up as Talia arrives, Aldarwen smiles to her and says, "Those that are wounded in battle deserve as much honour as possible, don't they?". Looking again toward Terridan, Aldarwen presses her lips and furrows her brow, she speak with serious tone, "I've already told you not to remember your fails while still in recover, please..."

Talia pushes some blankets from a nearby chair and drags it near to Terridan's cot. Sitting, she offers a quiet nod of thanks to Aldarwen, then looks back to her cousin. "You did not fail, Terridan...I am sorry that I was not there to protect or even to avenge you." Her brow wrinkles a bit as she fights off some memory, then allows herself a gentle smile, reaching out to squeeze her cousin's hand. "But the deed is done...You will be strong again in no time."

Terridan smiles to them both slowly, then shakes his head, "I know... I know Aldarwen... I won't do it again..." he looks over towards Talia, and squeezes her own hand back, "Worry not... as you said, the deed is done... and I will be up again soon..."

Aldarwen nods to Talia's words and says, "If you both excuse me, I think I should change the bandages and clean the wounds... Seeing that Terridan is getting better, I won't ask you to stay quiet, Talia, but don't make him talk too much, please, he still needs some rest". She then opens her bag again, and out from it she takes a bundle of clean bandages and another jar, of smaller size.

Tathar gets up off the ground, yawns really loudly and than sits on the chest in the room.

Terridan sighs softly, then lays back down after taking another sip from the wine, allowing Aldarwen to work easier. At Tathar's yawn though, he looks over, "Tired?"

Talia glances to the newly awakened Tathar and nods, then looks back to Terridan and Aldarwen, a coy smile curling her lips. "If you want Terridan quiet, you best make better use of those bandages...like covering his mouth with them." The Commander smiles innocently at her kinsman and leans back in the chair.

Tathar gigles at Terridan and says "No ,I just got up, I guess I just didn't rest long enough. I was supposed to help Kathalis today, but he has no shown up....."

Not even distracted by the yawn at her back, Aldarwen starts removing the bandages of Terridan's leg carefully but quickly. Once the wound is uncovered, she presses her lips for a second and then wets some clean bandages with the liquid in the small jar and passes it slowly over the wound, she hums a soft melody as she does so. Once the wound has been thouroughly wetted with the liquid, she takes some more bandages and covers it again, with the same speed and care as before.

Terridan smiles, then looks over towards Talia sharply, "Be careful, cousin... or you'll find yourself in that situation when you wake up one morning."

Tathar laughs at Talia's comment "Well....that's not such a bad idea Talia, but I think it would be a better idea to actually stich them shut perminently, where is that needle and thread anyways."

Talia smiles a little, but holds her peace as Aldarwen finishes her work. Her gaze is distant and seems fixed somewhere other than the field hospital. After an abnormal amount of silence on the Commander's behalf, she says to no one in particular, "I grow weary of fighting."

Having finished with the leg wound, Aldarwen moves toward Terridan's chest. She does as before, taking out the bandages, then cleaning the wounds with the liquid, then covering the wound again. This time her humming grows louder as she passes the liquid over the wounds, her hands seeming to dance with the merry melody. When she finishes with it, she sits down again and sighs softly, looking toward Terridan.

Tathar looking at the injured in the room says to Terridan and Aldarwen and Talia "If you wish me to help you with the bandages and such, I will help you. Anyways, are any of you getting good enough to leave, or are you still all preatty maimed?"

Terridan looks over towards Talia slowly, then sighs, "I do too at times cousin... but it is necessary... you know that."

Aldarwen turns towards Tathar and says, "Thank you, mellon, I'm almost finished now. And if you ask about Terridan's state, I'll tell you he's getting better. He will be getting up and walking freely very soon, if he follows his healers' advice". She grins broad and turns again toward Terridan, lifting the other cookie, "Maybe you would like to eat some more, Banneret?"

Tathar nods acknowledingly.

Terridan smiles softly, then nods his head, "Of course, Aldarwen... and I always follow the healer's advice," he sits up a bit, and reaches for the cookie again.

Talia nods to Terridan, her attention returning to the present. "I know it is...But enough talk of fighting. Has Miriamele been able to visit you yet? I have not seen her much recently."

Aldarwen giggles and nods, "I know, I know. It's Captain Kathalis the one that doesn't ever follow my advice. But I've grown accustomed to that, since he has such an abbility to get hurt!" As she says this, her eyes rise and stop at Talia's face. The Healer's smile frozens and she blushes a bit, silently.

Terridan sighs heavily, then lays his head down, "I have not seen much of her either... no, she has not been here yet," he looks up towards Aldarwen, and manages a smile again, "Well... at least he keeps you in practice."

Aldarwen giggles again after Terridan's words and then starts putting her things into the bag again, cleaning the used cups, and making a tidy bundle with the used bandages. But she leaves the jar with the miruvor and one used cup at hand distance from Terridan's cot. When she has finished putting everything in order, she nods toward Talia and Terridan and rises from her place, "I must go now, but I'll be back soon. I'll tell the Herbmaster that you are doing better, Banneret. Please take care of yourself and rest as much as you can".

Talia nods to Aldarwen and mumbles a mostly inaudible "thank you" as she prepares to leave. Then, returning her attention to Terridan, she reaches out a hand to touch his forehead gently and speaks quietly, "Is there anything I can fetch for you, dear cousin? I owe you a great deal, you know...You have only to ask."

Aldarwen nods then to Tathar, and looking at all the present she says, "Namarie, mellyn!". She walks quickly into the Thickets, and disappears into the dark density of the forest.
